Has anyone noticed after putting their puppy on the BARF diet that the pup consumes less water? I just finished switching over my pups diet to the BARF diet a couple of days ago and since then, he (Ludo) has been drinking less water. When Ludo was on the kibble (Royal Canin) he would drink lots of water very often throughout the day. He would urinate plenty as well. Now that he is on the BARF diet, he doesn't drink nearly as much water, yet he still urinates just about as much as before.
Could this be due to Ludo extracting more water from his food rather than having to drink it from his bowl? Do wolves in nature encounter water less often and have their digestive systems become very efficeient at extracting water from their food? All replies are appreciated. Thank you.
