Howdy,
Its been a while, but I've been busy and my boy has been relatively good...LOL!
Anyways, We seem to have occasional issues of "wet days" Bishop is house broken (does not go indoors), but will sometimes have an accident while in his crate during the day while everyone is at work (about 8 hours) He is 1 year 1/2 old. This "wet days" thing was starting to tapper off, but whenever we board him at the pet hotel he forgets all manners and pees EVERYDAY in his crate. This is not little puppy piddles...this is 75lbs of dog creating the piddles! A yellow flood if you get my understanding <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
We took him to the vets to rule out a UTI and he's in excellent health. The vet told me boy dogs are lazy. Great!
Ask about your dog's behavior in the boarding kennel. However, be aware that there are boarding kennels out there that instruct employees to tell the dog owner what they want to hear. ie: mischievous = viscious,
Many dogs drink excessively while boarding, some will pee everytime the kennel attendant turns around, some will spill their water and lay in the puddle, some will hold it until they go home.
The kennel schedule may vary from your home schedule and cause him to "need" to go at a different time. If the kennel confines the dogs on hard surfaces at all times, has negligent employees, automatic watering system, or uses small cage banks rather than kennel runs, your dog may become accustomed to peeing in his kennel area.
I would look into finding another kennel for boarding. If your current doggie hotel is your only option then I would bring this problem to the attention of the owners or whom ever does the hands-on managing, you may also want to ask in there is a trainer on staff and speak to him/her about this issue.
