I'm an old dog, but learned some new tricks. Ray's book
makes you rethink some stuff, worth the time!
I enjoyed the book, went to a seminar this past weekend.
have a look: wolfpark
Hey Dan, are those pictures of the wolf licking the human you? If so, you're alot braver than me, wow. They sure are awesome creatures to look at, but i'm not sticking my face anywhere near theirs, nice pics, AL
Wolf dog hybrids are bad news. I love wolves, but do NOT want one for a pet. Dogs are domestic animals, wolves are not. We have recently seen a coy/dog on our farm. ANOTHER bad-news hybrid. I don't know what you are thinking, but it can't be too intellegent if you want a wolf-dog for a pet.

I dont recall saying I wanted one. If you read my post properly it states that I had to rehome one for a client of mine. In the right hands they are not bad news. This Czech guy has been dealing with these dogs for years and years. Isnt it better to rehome a dog with someone who knows what such a dog involves than with someone who thinks they do and then have it rehomed again 2 mths later. Believe me I have 5 dogs right now and no way am I looking for nr 6. Intelligent? Least I read the post right
My web site has 4 or 5 articles on the dangers of hybrids http://www.leerburg.com/wolfcross.htm Anyone who thinks they are cool is sadly un-informed. Nothing wrong with Wolves - I grew up in Canada - worked by Hudson Bay in the bush for 2 summers in high school.
There is a huge difference between Wolf and a Hybrid. Studying wolves can teach us something about the pack behavior in our domestic dogs. Studying Hybrids will teach us something about RED NECKS with ego problems.
How 'bout opinions on rednecks? I've got lots of those. Hope I'm not in trouble for continuing this thread-I'm not stating an opinion on hybrids. I had a 3/4 timberwolf 1/4 gsd living across the street from me a few years back. I should have turned the guy in for having it (no way is that allowed in the yuppie city of Naperville) but I knew that what would happen to the animal wasn't better than staying where he was. I watched him pretty closely, and other than being stupid, he treated his "dog" ok. Luckily, the "dog" didn't cause any problems (extremely submissive, followed a corgi around) but it's infuriating that this uninformed hillbilly was permitted to purchase this animal, and it's even more infuriating that he was able to find someone willing to breed them. These animals ARE bad news, because anyone who own one and keeps it in suburbia, is a complete moron. Ironically, the inbred idiot who owned it had issues with my APBT! He was so sure that my dog was going to "turn" because he was 4 years old, and everyone knows that something happens in the brains of rotts, pits, dobes, and GSDs that makes them turn psycho right around the age of 4. He said he wouldn't hesitate to shoot my dog if he ever saw him leave the yard. The only thing worse than redneck pitbull people is hybrid people.
Lots of uninformed misguided folks have done wolf/dog crosses, whether they are American or European, it makes no difference. It's a BAD idea....
The general dog owning public can't deal with behavior issues in their Shih Tzu or Lab, and those are the same people who think it's cool to own a 'wolf'
