to de funk stuff like that I heard Hydrogenperoxide and arm and hammer baking soda works best. Saw it on "Myth Busters" on the Discovery channel
I am just not as experienced at it as our groomer. I tend to get the dog in the right direction, and then manage to squirt it on me anyway. I will try the soapy water thing. I get tired of stinkin
Speaking as an ex-professional groomer and an owner of 2 Corgis, I feel your pain Will... lol
I don't know WHY they get "dingleberries" but I think it has something to do with their tailset and the tail 'angle' when they poop because this happens to my girls also. My parents have a male Corgi and I always get the honor of using the thinning shears and trimming a "potty patch" for him when he visits.
Sometimes I think it's the only reason my parents come up here to see us, to get Duncan's butt trimmed!
I havent' found a solution other than keeping the area trimmed.

This is part of the reason for having this site on my "bookmark" list: new stuff I never knew even after all these years of being around dogs! I had no idea there were breeds with a certain -- angle? -- that predisposed them to dingleberries!
Ok, I'm sorry if this comes out wrong, I know that it's gross, but I need some advice here.
My seven year old female Corgi ends up needing her butt cleaned several times a week when I let her in - fecal soiling around her butt is present and I use wet wipes to clean it up, but man...I hate doing it.
We trim down her skirt so that nothing ends up on that, but is there some type of grooming solution for this?
I am a groomer and what I would do is thin out the hair in that region. I have a friend with a corgi that does the same thing. I just use some thinning shears and a Mars Coat King and thin the hair out some. It still looks normal but less bushy.

im a groomer also.. my friend was having the same trouble with her female lab every week the dog was scooting and every week i was checking the anal glands but there was nothing.. so my friend took her lab to the vet and he said too much moisture content in the food will also create the anal glands to need expressing my friend was putting water in with the dogs food... the vet said to use canned pumpkin also but that the pumpkin can make the dog extra gassy... you can also put on surgical gloves so no smell from anal gland expression gets on your hands.....
