The reason these kinds of threads will be left is to point out the fact that things like this happen because the owners were irresponsible and the dogs were not properly cared for. This is not a Pit Bull problem it's an owner problem.
Actually it's called a vicious dog ordinance.

I totally agree Ed. But as you well know the people and organizations I mentioned always twist the facts and always put the blame on the breed. The city of Olathe, Kansas just updated their dog ordinance ruling out a total ban on pitbulls, but do enforce an aggressive dog rule. Most cities in my area have a total ban on pitbulls, mine included. If my house was located two blocks west I could own one. Stupid sheeeet!

Sorry I put this in the wronng spot. Actually it's called a vicious dog ordinance in Olathe a a few other cities around here. I also for got to mention that the North East Animal Control in my area even includes the banning of dogs that resemble a pitbull in anyway.
i'm in awe, val...i'm 5'10", and could only bench 120# when i was young and on the powerlifting team..WOW
in my experience, most. bad dogs are not BRED, they are trained. an owner problem, not the dog's. sad, but true. too many dog owners either 1) act like dogs are people, and spoil the dog, or 2) don't care about the dogs, just $$, and breed HORRIBLE dogs. leads to bad things for the breed, all it takes is looking at historical data just in the AKC to see that.
bottom line here tho, is IDIOTS. and there's no getting around them, unfortunately. it's a war of CYA if you own, and take responsibility for, a big dog... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
Not for nothing, but benching has nothing to to with the quads that you are using to put the brakes on when dogs are pulling, or your back muscles. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />
so true, so true. however, i have to admire a little bit that pushes that much weight. i have a "leverage disadvantage" when it comes to benches. but a height and exp. advantage when it comes to pulling up and holding dogs. which ANY 14 yr old doesn't have. esp w/THREE pits...or three of any big dog.
(BTW, that includes the sainted st. bernard--nasty temperments from what i've seen).

P.S. I'm not getting the reference to "the sainted st. bernard" -- I must have missed something. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Hey Jeff....
Too true, however upper body strength comes in very handy in popping a correction at a hefty lunge from a powerful pit as it goes for it's target. That is total upper body strength. As my genetics are my legs lower body strength is certainly not an issue for me, and still my two relatively small but powerful dogs TOGETHER can over power me as they are lunging and pulling in different directions when they are excited...that was my point, so I never take them out together. It is a certainty a 14 year old boy trying to quell 3 pit bulls never had a chance, and who ever handed them over to this boy should NOT own pit bulls AND be accountable for his actions......
Although my first love is physics, my second is fitness, and would love to discuss the dynamics of the well conditioned body, PM me anytime....
