A different tick here in OZ but just as deadly, can paralyse and kill in 24 hours and is also so tiny that you can never find it until it has a full stomach and even then you just about need a magnifying glass. We use both frontline and the preventic collar together during tick season and just frontline the rest of the time, even then we nearly lost our 6 month old pup last year. Our vet says that frontline alone is not enough to cover the face area and the collar alone is not enough to cover the feet and tail properly, could be just trying to make his fortune but after seeing the results of this tick I take his advice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Also garlic. A clove a day will help to keep the blood-suckers at bay. From flees to mosquitos to ticks. Use the stuff with the purple hue to it, more potent in its ethers. This is what the old garlic necklace to keep the vampires away is all about.
Since garlic is in the same family as onions, I have concerns regarding feeding it over a prolonged period of time. Onions are known to cause Heinz body anemia in dogs, and since garlic contains the same alkaloid responsible, I really have huge reservations feeding it to my dogs.
