I got the Biopsy results from my vet today. Microscopic Findings:Severe Chronic Suppurative Superficial Dermatitis with Serocellular Crust and Bacteria. Comment:There is clearly bacterial involvement. This may be the primary problem or may be secondary to an underlying atopic, allergic or other hypersensitivity condition.Comments from the Dermatologist go on to say: The clinical description of the lesions appears most supportive of mucocutaneous pyoderma.I am particularly suspicious of this since the lesions were significantly antibiotic responsive.
Needless to say this is a lot of info for me to go through so i will be doing a lot of research on this problem. One of the good things I got from all this is that it can be allergy related, and I switched to RAW a week ago so hopefully that will help.
Glad the vet gave you some results. Still a bit of a mystery though
I just wanted to point out another situation you may encounter: You've just started a raw diet for your dogs (congrats BTW! and since your dogs are older dogs, they may go through a detox period. Anything from loosing fur, to lesions, body odor, a whole host of things MAY occur while the dogs get rid of the toxins in their body. Or nothing may happen, so wait and see.
I would just treat the lesions with some antibiotic powder and keep up with the raw diet! Good Luck!
