I used food. A lot of food. Thinking back, I will teach the next dog with food only. Buko was much better before I added the tug. Course what do I know? He isn't creeping at the moment. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Hmm... lots to think about. Great ideas. I think I'll start with a combination of the PVC and standing close. However, I've yet to decide whether to use toy or food. I guess I'll do both and see what works best. He's a high drive dog, especially during obedience, and I know he'll want to leap forward at the down command... so I think reinforcing the "fold back down" will work. Thanks to everyone!

Does anybody have approx minimum dimensions or plans for building a table for a 50lb female malinois to work on the positions? I've tried her on top of recycle boxes and utilized a square of PVC pipe she is such a drivey dog that the PVC pipe does nothing from stopping her creep forward and the recycle bin just makes her apprehensive as it is not really solid and slippery as well.
2 Metal pins 40 to 50 cm long with a t bar at one end and sharpend at the other and connected with a string (beige or brown is best so the dog doesn't see it that good) put the 2 pins aproximatly 2 meters appart and make sure that the string is fixed so that it stays horizontal. take your dog around and behind the devise. put him in the start position and go to your place so that if the dog wants to creep towards you he'll be blocked by the string
