How we raise puppies today is much different than how we have done it in the past. Today, we focus our interactions with our puppy on building engagement and a relationship that encourages the puppy’s love of learning. We want to build a strong foundation of trust and understanding before we try to teach obedience behaviors. Unfortunately, many new puppy owners get distracted from building their relationship because they are in a hurry to teach formal obedience or they simply don’t understand how to build the foundation of engagement. This video also covers how to manage a puppy in and around the home, but the focus is how we build the foundation for all future training. Once we have engagement and a pup that loves the learning process, teaching obedience behaviors is easy. It needs to be said that new puppy (or dog) owners almost always ask for a timeline on what and when their dog should learn behaviors. The fact is without knowing a temperament of the dog this is an impossible question to answer. Like children every puppy is different. Puppy rearing as it's as much an art as a science. There cannot be a set timeline the fits every puppy. No 2 puppies are exactly the same. What one puppy is ready to learn at 10 weeks may take a different puppy of the same breed 6 months or more before they are ready. Our course is a loose outline of how we raise puppies while always reminding everyone that everything we do in dog training and management DEPENDS ON THE DOG. The vast majority of puppy rearing IS management and it's up to the owner to determine when they think their pup is ready for the next step in training while always being ready to back up to a previous step when necessary. Our course will show you the steps of training. We hope we have supplied enough information to help you determine when to move your puppy through the steps.

Very good training video. Excellent video quality and clear explanations with examples. I was unfortunately disappointed with the last section of the video. The last section on health care had strong opinions regarding veterinary care and veterinarians that was not informative nor helpful. Health care should be left to veterinarian professionals as much as training should be left to experienced dog trainers. Without this section the video would have received 5 out of 5 stars.

I purchased this before I acquire a puppy, since I've never raised a dog from puppyhood. Very informative about things like injuries they may acquire due to inappropriate exercise too soon, etc. Be aware that in the section regarding flea and tick control using garlic, they're referring to a commercial food/water supplement meant for dogs which contains garlic as one of its ingredients. I corresponded with them about clarifying this.

This is the most helpful and best video on dog training. Very educational, super helpful especially on the crate and ex-pen trainings. I can’t say enough about this video.my son and I both have watched it and gone back to it for reference.
So glad the dog breeder told me about this video and website :).

Awesome video, thank you for the invaluable information shared! I already had many dog training videos from Leerburg, including Raising Your Puppy from Michael Ellis (which is also fantastic) but stil got this one and I absolutely loved it. I strongly recommend it.

I found it to be very helpful even though Iv'e raised a lot of puppies Love the part on socialization . Most think it means dogs need to romp on each other.

I would have given a higher rating. My disappointment was that the different developmental stages by month was not discussed except teething occurs at 4-6 months.

Your Puppy 8 WEEKS to 12 MONTHS (2019 ). Is another masterful work by Ed & Cindy. If you are about to get a new puppy and / or adopt one , you would want this resource at your fingertips.

The content itself is of good quality, that is why I added an extra star giving two star rating. However I am very disappointed with the video overall since the title explicitly says your puppy from 8 weeks to 12 months but has no chronological development of the puppies different stages in its life from 8 weeks to 12 months and mixed information bits of throughout the course of the ages of the puppy and what is happening. It's structured in how to manage the puppy and why but not when. All in all I would not recommend this video to anybody.

Admin note*** thank you for your review, there is no real timeline for puppy rearing as it's as much an art as a science. What one puppy is ready for at 10 weeks may take a different puppy of the same breed 6 months or more.
