Product Description
Every once in a while, we see a new dog training product that blows us away. Leerburg is proud to introduce the Keeper Collars® Hidden Prong Collar. This is one of those products where design, quality, and functionality have all been taken into account. Not recommended for tying out.
SIZING
For the optimum fit always choose within the correct sizing of the size chart. Our Keeper Collar with the Leather Strap may be a better option for those looking to get a greater size range out of their collar, as the strap has three adjustable holes built in. Here's Willy, the Chocolate Lab, being measured. Measure just under the jaw and behind the ears. The measurement should be snug, not tight. When the collar is built, the necessary slack is added into the collar, so there's no worry about it being too small.
As you can see, Willy measures 15.5 inches. If your dog measures 15.5" and is full grown, a 14" collar would work when loosened (orange 14"), or a 15” collar allows for more room if we wish to tighten it (black 15 inch, shown loosened). The green 16” collar would be too big for Willy (green 16 inch). If your dog has a thicker coat or is expected to grow, we suggest opting for the larger size (black).

DESCRIPTION
The Keeper Collars® Hidden Prong Collar is not simply a cover for a prong collar. The prong is built directly into the collar, allowing for unmatched functionality and camouflaging of the prong.
These collars are designed to easily be put on and taken off. Gone are the days of struggling to pinch the prongs together. For those people who do not have a ton of dexterity in their fingers, this is going to be a huge benefit.
Because you are no longer pinching the prongs to put the collar on and take off, you do not have to worry about them eventually wearing out and becoming loose. This also eliminates the worry of your prong coming apart when you need it most. With that, you no longer need to use a backup collar. Leerburg has always recommended using a backup collar with a prong. Simply because if and when the prong fails it will fail when you need it most and maintaining control over your dog in those instances is crucial. With the Keeper Collar, there is no way for the prongs to come apart. Even if they did, the leather flat strap doubles as your back up collar.
Keeper Collars also makes achieving the perfect fit much easier. Prong collars are meant to ride high on the dog’s neck just below the base of the skull. Sizing a standard prong requires adding and removing links, which really limits the amount of adjustability.
The Keeper Collars® Hidden Prong Collar, on the other hand, are completely adjustable. We offer a variety of sizes that allows you to select the size that closest fits your dog. You can then adjust the length of the pull tab to get a perfect fit on any dog. This also allows you to easily put the collar on and off with the use of the plastic buckle or leather tab and clasp.
Prong collars are an extremely functional training tool, especially when it comes to loose leash walking. Unfortunately, they look menacing and people tend to jump to conclusions about them. Let me preface that with the pinching from a prong causes no damage to your dog’s neck, whereas allowing a dog to pull into a flat collar can put so much pressure on your dog’s trachea, resulting in permanent damage.
However, because of the appearance and an onslaught of uneducated bad publicity about prongs, people who use them correctly are often verbally accosted when taking their dogs for a walk. So if you fall into that category and are tired of the dirty looks from people when safely walking your dog down the street, we recommend taking a look at the Keeper Collars® Hidden Prong Collar.
Additional Considerations
Prong collars do not apply pressure to the dogs trachea, making them a safe alternative to a slip collar, and much safer than allowing your dog to pull into a flat collar which can cause permanent damage to the dogs wind pipe. Instead a prong collar tightens, creating a pinching sensation that is instantly released once the dog “yields to the leash” or stops pulling.
Leerburg recommends using a backup collar any time you are using a prong collar on your dog. For more information on back up collars and why we recommend them check out some of our free streaming videos on the proper use of a prong collar as well as the prong collar leash. We recommend Leerburg’s Dominant Dog Collar.
It is recommended to NOT use these collars with a retractable (flexi) lead.

Beautiful pink collar that’s easy to put on, is well made and works awesome! Thanks so much!
Shannon from Canada!
This is a game changer. I was used to a Gentle Leader for my last girl, yet my new boy figured out it was blocking him from following his nose freely, so he’d try to get it off. He’s a thoroughly untrained 2 year old Rottie we got from the shelter, with a strong work drive who is also a natural tracker. So he walks with his nose and gets absorbed, pulling hard. I didn’t need to reward much when we started him on this prong collar at all! It seems to feel much more natural to him too. Gentle Leaders are anything but. We can walk him anywhere for any length of time while he gets his training on! I chose this one for ease of attachment because he was a little skittish about being handled at first, so a quick on and off was exactly what we needed and it contains the base collar so you don’t need to attach 2 things. Great product!

I LOVE this collar! This, with a lead, and praise, is all I will ever need to train (any dog I would have), in any environment! Love the snap! I have always used a prong collar to train, but hard to squeeze those prongs to take it on and off. The older I get, the harder it is on the fingers. This is a breeze. Sewn into the collar: the links don't have any opportunity to come apart on their own. Another great benefit: I don't have to hear comments about using a prong collar--which does not harm or hurt my dogs in any way--from people who think I am torturing my dogs.

We have a 100lb., female, black brindle, Cane Corso that we adopted from a Mastiff rescue org. She was fairly good on a walk, but a couple of issues that she had was stopping at every tree & light pole, and she does not like other dogs.
We've been using a slip leash that worked okay, but the main problem is that it kept slipping down her neck; so, a strong correction could have hurt her. We finally did some research on prong collars, and thought this would be a good and safe tool for us and our dog to improve her behavior, especially when she confronts other dogs. We chose the Keeper Collar because the prongs are pretty much hidden from sight, and I wouldn't need an extra safety collar. Also, where we live there are a lot of people who treat their dogs as humans (you know the type of people I'm talking about), so I know the sight of a prong collar on my dog will spark some meltdowns and nasty comments that I will take personally, and cause me to respond in kind. So, to avoid all of this, we purchased the Keeper Collar. This collar has been a godsend! When fitted and used correctly, it truly is like "power steering". Our dog is not stopping at every tree and light pole; and, when she does, just a gentle, light pressure on the collar, and she's back on my heels. The real change has been when we come across other dogs during our walks and hikes. If she takes an aggressive step forward, a firm, gentle pressure on the collar is all that's needed, and she back in her perfect heel position at my side. She even gets excited when I grab the Keeper Collar because she knows that we're then going for a walk or hike.
The only downside of the Keeper Collar is the price (especially if you have a big dog). We looked on Amazon, Ebay, and other sites, but we found that the most reasonable price was here at Leerburg. We also like Leerburg's dog training philosophy, and this was a good way to support Leerburg educating dog owners. My wife and I would give the Keeper Collar 10 stars if we could. Leerburg too deserves 10 stars because their staff patiently helped us choose the correct size, and answered all of our questions. It's definitely been worth the investment!

I purchased this collar in July 2022. It does work great for helping to control my large dog. However, I am giving this a 1 star review due to a manufacturer defect. This portion of the start that slides to loosen or tighten during use is fraying. I just realized today that the metal is not not smooth (in fact it is sharp) and causing the damage. Eventually, it is gong to sacrifice the integrity of the collar. I was not expecting this poor quality for the price paid.
If you do purchase this collar, which I said does work well, inspect it carefully before using it. If you have inside edges on the metal like my picture (I can only add one) then return it or in a short period of time you will have an expensive collar you no longer trust. I am way outside the Leerburg return policy so I wasted my money.

I went back and forth on 3 or 4 stars - would really give 3.5. I took a star off, and wanted to deduct more, because the sizing chart seems off to me. I purchased 2 collars and have been using them almost daily now for about 2 months with my 2 great danes and when I stare down at the collar I get frustrated. I measured multiple times and came up with 21.5/22 for one and 21 for the other boy; so I ordered a 21" and a 20" collar. I have to cinch the 'adjustment' band almost all the way to keep the collar in the correct position. By doing this, there is almost no room left for the collar to squeeze so effectively I now have a prong collar that doesn't pinch. The dogs react to the pressure but not as quickly as when using a collar that properly pinches or squeezes. I would suggest going down two inches from what you measure on your dog's neck. The collar itself is seems constructed really well and I've had no issues with stitching or the look. The snap is great and makes it much easier to put the collar on and take off than trying to slide it over their heads.

This collar is definitely an upgrade from a traditional prong collar. It’s way easier to put on and looks good too.
Purchased collar for my 85lb GSD/Catahoula Mix female. The 18" fits her 19" neck perfectly. This is probably the best collar we have ever purchased. Wish it had been available for our other GSDs over the years. Heavy duty hardware, well rounded prongs. Easy on, easy off. My wife likes it so much she's thinking of another one for me.

I use the Leerburg Keeper collar and it has been a God sent. Lexi is a 3yr. old GS and was told from puppy stage that she is extremely high energy and that she is! We take her to doggie day care 3 half days a week to burn up some of that energy and she loves it! She only weighs about 70 lbs. Have had her to several training classes she heals, halts, stays etc. Sometimes I have to put it on her especially during the bunny, squirrel, mud and other critter season. Normally I can just let her out in our fenced in yard no leash but when needed I use the Keeper collar. I am very petite and she has almost pulled me over when a rabbit darts out but not with this collar. All the trainers require prong collars for all the lessons, but with this one I have complete control it is like she knows and respects it and me more. Great products and great service.

This collar was a game changer for walls. My lab is so strong and pulled like crazy. I ended up being pulled into a ditch a couple times when he locked on a scent. The very first time I put this collar on my pup responded well. He pulled a little but not like before. We have used the collar for over a week now and the walks have consistently gotten better. He gets excited when he sees me grab the collar. I love the snap closure. I am a small woman and do not have the strength for the traditional prong collars. This one snaps on and off like breeze. Best money I have spent on my pup!!!!
I recommend them to anyone having pulling issues with their dog.

This is the best prong collar I have used for my 5 dogs. Previously I only used Herm Sprenger prong collars. This is a game changer. Make sure you don’t order it too big. I had to return it for a smaller collar.

THE BEST collar!
I use this product on a hight energy yellow lab search and rescue k-9.
I have had this product for about 3 years of daily use from walking to extreme duty use. Paired this collar with an Leerburg Amish latino leather police leash, this combo has totally been bomb proof !
The only wear I'm noticing is the webbing between the links is starting to stretch out around a few links. Seems to be a non-issue as for function.
we bought this collar over 2 years ago.
It is without a doubt the best made, easily put on and off collar I have ever seen or used.
People are amazed that its a prong when we go on walks..
Would recommend this collar to anyone looking for a strong, discreet prong collar.
Customer service was great whether responding by email or talking with a rep on the phone before I placed the order. Delivery was very prompt. The collar is very well made, the snap clasp very sturdy; however, we found this just wasn't the collar for use for our 17-month-old German Shepherd and we are returning the collar.

Ordered this collar for my 10-month-old hound and I am simply amazed at how well it works. My pup has always pulled on the leash and it’s gotten worse since she’s gotten older and bigger and I’ve tried everything before purchasing this collar. I was hesitant to use it at first (I even brought her harness along) but she instantly stopped pulling! The first walk! No verbal corrections or pulling back on the leash needed. I will definitely be recommending this collar to any dog owner who struggles with a dog who gets excited on walks and tends to pull. What a life changer.
Ps I never write reviews on anything but I just had to share

Ordered 2 of these collars and prefer them more than any other collar we have. Easy to put on and take off (no squeezing of prongs), looks like a standard flat martingale type collar without drawing any negative attention and the clasp used for securing the collar is secure/strong leaving no concern for it coming unclasped. Worth every penny!
I'm so thankful I spent the money for a Keeper Collar. We have a 16 month old, 95 pound German Shepherd. I literally couldn't walk him because he is so strong. Saw Leerburg's video on the Keeper Collar on YouTube. I'd been considering a prong collar but was afraid that I didn't have the strength in my hands to pinch the prongs. With the Keeper, I can walk my dog, he doesn't pull, he doesn't lunge. Today, a dog ran out of its yard toward us, and my dog stayed by my side. I've been able to build a better relationship with my dog because of this collar.
I bought this for my small but very strong German Shepherd a couple of years ago and use it virtually every day. I love it and it looks almost new still. I had a problem with measuring her neck, because she has a thick ruff, and had to return it for a smaller size - not a problem. I have two things to mention about it. The prongs are a little small for her thick coat - I used to use a Sprenger prong collar with the longer prongs. This means my corrections need to be a little sharper, but they are rarely needed. I do wish that it was a martingale style because I frequently need to move her from left to right and back when taking her out to the market or on urban trails. However, I can place the collar so that the closure is on top of her neck and her coat and the prongs hold it pretty well in place.
I notice there is now a new version for thick coat, but she is too small for it. If it will fit your dog, I would suggest you choose that one instead of this one.
A little pricey but well worth it. Nice and strong and good looking. I like they one inch option so it looks just like a regular collar. I also love the leather edge for comfort.
I have purchased several hidden prong collars from other vendors at dog shows and after purchasing this one from Leerburg it’s highly superior! The prongs are well balanced and correctly sized and I’m experiencing much more control with very little effort with our 120lb rottie. I misplaced my precious collar abs needed one ASAP - Thank you for quick shipping and amazing craftsmanship!
My Aussie/Collie mix does very well with this collar, as so many others have stated. However, my review is about the manufacturer. About a week after I bought the collar, one of my children neglected to take the collar off my baby after taking her out. As you can imagine, she just about chewed the D ring off the tug part of the collar. I contacted the manufacturer and was able to ship it to them for repair for $15.

I love this collar. It is like power steering for my aussie. Although good on the leash - he does tend to be distracted by "critters". Using this collar ensures that my shoulder is not in danger of dislocation. The collar is much easier to put on/take off than a standard prong collar - which really should be attached to a regular collar in case of failure. With this collar, I can simply leave it attached to the leash and put it on/take it off on demand.
I am learning how to properly use this collar and so far I LOVE it. It is easy to put on and I feel good that I don't need to worry about it coming apart. It looks good on my dog.
Fantastic piece of equipment!!! Because I don't trust the swivel ring on a standard prong collar, I also use a diamond link collar as back up and clip the leash to both. My retired working canines look like "Mr. T" walking down the street with all those chains around their necks!! The keeper collar snaps on and off so easily, looks like a standard flat collar and I am impressed with the quality of the workmanship of the product.
I purchased this for my 7 yrs old Brittany/GSP mix who is a puller. This collar works awesome her pulling has decreased significantly and walk with her is a pleasure. The only issue I have was there was no diagram on how to put the collar on properly instead on trail and error.
Great collar, it worked really well with my English cocker who needed just a bit more help with learning boundaries on leash. But she chewed it, briefly and the plastic buckle broke. I have ordered the more expensive keeper collar as a replacement. I should have sprung for the metal bucket at the start even though it was my intent to religiously remove it when she was not walking.
My wild child 2yo Lab mix rescue has been a huge struggle to control on leash, to the point where I could not even walk her down the driveway anymore. She would drag me, lunge at other dogs, bark at everything, choke herself on her flat collar, and stop to sniff whenever she chose.
Nothing I tried worked, especially not food! I truly thought we were doomed until I got the Keeper collar. After we put it on, it took her less than 10 minutes to learn how to walk with a loose leash, at the heel position, with her focus on me. I will add that she is very sensitive and she did not cry or yelp one time while wearing it, even when I applied corrections.
With this collar I was able to give her exactly what she needed: strong, confident leadership and guidance. The quality is beautiful and the prongs are very well hidden when the collar is on (which I was worried about since I have a 3/4" one). I will be glad not to have anyone interrupt us on walks to give me their unwanted "input".
We will be customers for life. Thank you SO much!
Great collar but ordered wrong size. Looks great. Very sturdy collar. Can’t wait to get new one.

I had purchased several of the standard Herm Sprenger pinch collars from another company. Within a few months, the prongs bent and separated. When I called J & J company for replacement, they refused.
I called Leerburg and spoke to them about this, they told me about the Keeper Collars which I bought two of.
This product is nothing short of AMAZING!
You don't have to worry about securing it to another lead or collar. It looks like a collar, acts like a collar and gives you that extra support you need for complete control.
Well worth the money because you do not have to worry about replacing. I use mine daily and have for close to a year.
I trust this company over others and they have my loyalty.

I purchased two of these collars in October of 2016 and have been using them with our Belgian Malinois ever since. I cannot praise them highly enough. I expected to like them a lot, but they have far exceeded my highest expectations. I've used a number of different kinds of collars with these dogs over the years but these are by far the best I've found. They are easy to use, avoid the stigma of uneducated people who feel the need to comment on prong collars, and they are secure.
The most important aspect for me is that they are safe to use and avoid the need to depend upon the flat collar for backup. Unlike traditional prong collars, even the best of them, these cannot disengage during use. The prongs are held firmly in place by the strong fabric cover. The backup is built into the structure.
The safety of my dogs is my primary concern, and knowing that these collars will not come apart when I need them most is the best thing about them. I was concerned about using a snap rather than a buckle, but this is strong and I have confidence it will hold. Our dogs are obedience trained and I believe they would respond to a Come or Down command if their collar failed, but I won't bet their lives on that. And I don't have to with this collar.

I purchased this collar for my GSD. While I love the concept and the collar is beautiful and very well made, the prongs could be longer, especially for a long haired dog. I currently use the Sprenger 1in collar on my boy, not that he is aggressive or misbehaves, it's more for my piece of mind when we encounter another dog that is a bit feisty. It gives me better control over his large size as I am quite petite and he could literally drag me around! LOL! So, can this collar be made with a larger prong please?? :)

I purchased this collar for my 5 month old 55 pound puppy. Let me say I LOVE it. It is so much easier to put on and take off and it also stays up a little higher on the neck than the regular prong. It is good quality and it looks so nice. You won't be sorry if you order this collar.

The 16" is too stiff and too wide for my dog. 3/4 inch wide would be better. Maybe someday the collar will become more flexible...
That said, the security of this collar sure beats the old collar coming undone and my dog getting loose to eat chickens, chase deer, or generally raise hell. Even the shock collar is not as effect as the prong collar - except when my dog gets loose.

This collar is amazing. I have a 5 month old giant schnauzer. She’s a great dog except when it comes to walking (and jumping on furniture). Every dog training facility in my area is anti-prong collars. They promote popping treats every 2 seconds which is wholly ineffective for my pup and it gives her digestive issues.
She’s nearly 40 pounds already and she’s expected to hit the 70+ mark. Before this collar my arm and back were tired and sore from trying to get her to walk. She had no concept of loose leash walking because she was always at the end of her leash pulling.
The first walk with her using this collar was actually enjoyable. She stayed at my side pretty much the whole time. It required very little correcting from me.
I love that the prongs are hidden because it allows me to take her out and not have to deal with side eyed looks or awkward comments from who do not understand she’s not being hurt by the prongs.
It was worth the cost. I bought one that I hope will fit her as an adult but won’t hesitate to get another if she out grows it.

I am have done several trainings (both DVD, steaming and Interactive) with Leerburg. I have used prong collars in the training of my dogs for 20 years. Used correctly, they are a good training tool. Months ago, I listened to Ed Frawley's video stating his view of prong collars that can loosen over time and run the risk of coming apart. I bought this keeper collar for walking in the neighborhood as trying to explain how prong collars work and don't damage or hurt the dog to neighbors was fruitless, however, I was not using the collar consistently.
Last week, while not using the keeper collar but using her training prong, it fell off out of nowhere and I had no second collar attached to the leash. A UPS truck was passing by when this happened. This was a heartstopping moment for me - and fortunately, nothing bad happened.
I am writing this review to state that I will never walk my dog without this collar on. This is a product all dog owners who know how to use a prong should have. If prongs are not used, you MUST have a second collar in use regardless.

Very well made, very substantial collar. I used this to replace a prong collar and it is just as effective, much easier to put on and remove, and the size adjustment allows proper adjustment much better than the standard prong collar. The snap closure buckle is really heavy duty and very secure. I have never had a buckle of this type fail, even on cheap collars pet store collars but I’m still a little uncomfortable with it. I would probably go with the leather collar with the buckle if I replace this.
The sizing of the collars seem a little bigger than listed. I ordered the size based on her neck measurement per the sizing on the website and it needed to be adjusted down to almost the minimum size to work. My measurement may have been a little loose. But she’s still growing and it works great.

Excellent solution to a pulling-dog problem! My dog knows very well how to heel, but pulls on the leash when he gets overly excited (like walking through the parking lot on our way to the beach where he knows he will get to run and chase a ball). I tried a 'Comfort-Fit' collar, and a lot of corrections, but he still pulled to the point of gagging himself. This collar worked INSTANTLY. The slightest pressure and he stops pulling, and starts heeling as if that was his intention all along. It saves his throat and my arm. And I really like having the prongs hidden so that the collar is easy to get on/off, and so that people do not assume his is an aggressive dog. Beautiful, high-quality product. Wish I had bought one a year ago!!

These collars are amazing! We purchased one for our Great Dane as soon as they came out. We could manage the old type of prong collar, but our sitter has a brain injury and has some difficulty with her motor skills and remembering how to do it. So the minute I saw this collar I said that I didn't care what the cost was, we had to have one our sitter to use. The only negative thing about our collar purchase was it only came in the olive tree when we bought it! One of the best products around! The black thing/box below the green collar is his e-collar, Rosco is deaf so that is how we communicate with him. That's him enjoying Marci Gras with his Aunt!

I bought this for my service dog because the regular prong collar made people uncomfortable. They either thought she was mean and therefore needed a prong collar or I was just a cruel person. LOL Now no one even knows she has it on! This is a well made collar and I love that it has a snap closure since I have limited use of my hands. The only issue I have with this collar is that the prongs are not long enough to go through all of her fur effectively (she is a beautiful Golden Retriever with lots, and I mean LOTS of fur around her neck). The Keeper Collar does work better than a regular Martingale collar but not as well as the plain prong collar I was using. It would be nice if a second type of Keeper Collar was offered with longer prongs for dogs with lots of fur.

Excellent product, high quality construction, easy to put on and off... easy to adjust for perfect sizing. Have a stubborn bulldog who was almost impossible to walk. Tried 4 different collars and harnesses with no luck at all. After about 5 min of using this collar he is walking like an angel.
Excellent product! Bought 2 for my dogs.highly recommended product for hard to walk dogs.nice quality as well.

Wonderful Collar!
This collar is a dream on a variety of levels. It is high quality, it eliminates my difficulties with pinching the prongs on and off by having the secure clip on and off...now I don't worry about her prong collar coming off unexpectedly. It still allows for quick release of corrections AND it prevents my neighbors from offering their insights as to how unkind I am to my dog to have her in a prong. It came just in time as even at my vet office in their well meaning ignorance they "frown" on prong collars and try to discourage me from using one. I love the pink color and plan on ordering another. Whoever thought of this...THANK YOU.

Been using them for 3 years. Quality, durability, easy to use and look good at the same time.
