Product Description

These collars are imported from Germany and made with black stainless steel.

Prong collars do not apply pressure to the dogs trachea, making them a safe alternative to a slip collar, and much safer than allowing your dog to pull into a flat collar which can cause permanent damage to the dogs wind pipe. Instead a prong collar tightens, creating a pinching sensation that is instantly released once the dog “yields to the leash” or stops pulling.

The Herm Sprenger Company has been a leader in the dog training market with their high quality training products for many years. Herm Sprenger uses only the best materials and prides itself on their high standards. Leerburg is proud to carry a wide variety of Herm Sprenger collars.

Leerburg strongly recommends using a backup collar any time you are using a prong collar is on your dog. For more information on back up collars and why we recommend them check out some of our free streaming videos on the proper use of a prong collar as well as the prong collar leash. We recommend Leerburg’s Dominant Dog Collar.

Prong collars should NOT be used with a retractable (flexi) lead.

I love this collar! I have a white and black American Bulldog. I only wish they made a black slip collar just like it. It doesn't stain his fur and we are quiet stylish!

On this particular day he wore a new collar that was made for him as a gift instead the collar that helps to keep the pinch in place. It's very hard to keep pinch collars in place on Bully type dogs. As there fur is short and soft, it always slips out of place. It's either to tight or to loose. I think the links should come in half sizes.

A fantastic high quality prong collar. We have been using this prong collar (The size small link) for my Siberian Husky and even though we use it almost daily it's still all black. The links can easily be squeezed apart to put on or take off and the ends are rounded (Not blunt like the cheap prong collars you find at big box stores) We use a back up slip collar just under the prong collar for that rare chance it might pop apart. I highly recommend this prong collar to anyone, invest in a high quality prong collar! Your dog will thank you.

I like the color since our Great Dane is black and it makes it look discrete. We chose the small one with extra links since his hair is very short. He responds very fast with it.

I love my daughter's nine month black German Shepard and a prong collar is great for our walks. I also have a lot of arthritis in my hands, this collar is so much easier for me to get on him that I am able to get him out for walks more often. Really helped out a lot. Great product.

I've always been about positive dog training and looking at a prong collar I thought "There's no way that thing is going on my dog..." After struggling with my dog pulling on every walk and no treat could get him to stay by my side and me correcting him all the time (hard corrections about 7/10 times) on his martingale. I decided enough was enough... I did a lot of research on how to use the prong collar and what brand to go with. My search led to me to this wonderful site.

I introduced the collar slowly and with treats. It's up high on the neck with a back up nylon slip collar as an insurance policy. Our walks have gone from my arm hurting and me possibly damaging his throat because of those hard corrections I gave him. To him walking by my side without me correcting him at all. I'm extremely happy I made the switch from a martingale to a prong collar. We ended up buying the small links for my 80lb gsd/husky mix after reading more about what size you should get.

I love that his tail goes crazy when he sees and hears his prong collar. If you're on the fence about getting a prong collar do your research before making a judgement. I highly recommend getting a Herm Sprenger prong collar. It's a well build and a high quality collar.

I absolutely love the way this collar looks, but unfortunately it ripped out a lot of hair from my German Shepherd's neck. I've never had this issue with a prong collar before. I switched back to my silver one a couple months ago and the hair is growing back. I wish I had a short-haired dog to use it on but unfortunately it doesn't work with my dog.

Great product, and I'm writing to offer some size reference.

I have an Airedale Terrier with a neck size of 14'' and I originally wanted to get the medium size prong collar. After watching Ed's video, he suggests using a smaller size prong collar. I decided to go for the small size with extra links. It works wonderfully and now I can finally walk my dog without the pulling.

Love. Lived with SS Herm Sprenger collars of traditional colour for decades and I'm not quite sure why it took me so long to purchase in black. This collar is stealth on a black or dark dog which nicely helps avoid "the dreaded prong collar" conversation with those that don't actually have to live with your dog. Very durable.
