Ed Frawley designed the one odor scent kit for trainers who prefer to keep their training aids separated. Law enforcement uses one odor kits to train detection dogs to find hard drives and thumb drives. These kits are also good for starting a single odor in sport detection for organizations like AKC, UKC, CKC, & NACSW.

This new scent kit was designed by Ed Frawley and manufactured by Leerburg. Patent Pending.

All of the civilian style nose work dog sports use 4 or 5 odors. I specifically designed this one odor kit for several reasons:

• Law enforcement searching for pedophile hard drives and thumb drive
• Civilian trainers who start their training with only one odor
• Civilian trainers who want to keep their 4 or 5 odors in separate scent kits

Sport dog trainers can also use these kits with the goal of keeping their training aides/odors separate. Some training protocols recommend starting detection dogs on one odor. When the dog has reached fluency on that first odor the dog can then be introduced to second, third, or fourth odor. We also offer a new five scent kit of this same design.

This new kit has two newly designed odor boxes. Scent items are placed in these odor boxes. These boxes have a sliding top with air vents and a magnet compartment. The magnet compartment (located on the bottom of the box) is designed so our earth magnets can be slid in and held in place by friction.

Our scent kit is 1/3 the size of the larger industrial military case scent kits that Leerburg puts together. Case Dimensions: 3" long x 4" wide x 2 1/2" tall

Leerburg's Individual Odor Kit contains:

• 1 dram of oil with the scent of your choice (or 1 empty dram)
• 1 glass dropper
• 2 magnetic odor boxes (buy more here)
• 1oz. Jar with cotton swabs

A Message from Ed Frawley on Scent Kits

I live in a small town in Wisconsin. Every week our local newspapers report on arrests made on suspected pedophiles. In my opinion, this is a serious cultural problem.

Pedophiles know that being caught with child pornography on their computers or cell phones will land them in prison for many years (as it should be). So these people keep their illegal material on portable hard drives and thumb drives which they hide.

Dogs can be trained to find hard drives and thumb drives just like they can be trained to find cocaine, methamphetamine, or bomb-making material. The substance used to make all hard drives and thumb drives is called triphenylphosphine oxide - or TPPO.

In fact, I would recommend civilian scent dog trainers contact their local law enforcement agencies and offer to assist in the training of a TPPO dog. I got started in law enforcement in 1990 by offering to train a narcotic detection dog for our local sheriff's department. Our sheriff asked if I would be interested in working as a K9 handler on our department which I did for 10 years.

Kit Care

Cleaning scent kits and odor boxes should NOT be done in the dishwasher. We recommend hand washing using warm water and soap, then let the containers air dry.

We recommend that the dropper should be put back into the foam when not being used to avoid leaks in the case.

Notes

The content of the Anise dram may freeze during shipping. If this occurs the oil will change molecular state from a liquid to a powder. This is not damaged and it will return to its liquid form after it is given time to settle (approximately 1 – 2 days).

For safety reasons, Scent Kits and Scent Kit refill items cannot be returned or exchanged.
