My dog has Babesia and I want to switch him over to a raw diet, but I wasn't happy with what my veteranarian had to say about it. What are your suggestions?
Full Question:
Dear Mr. Ed Frawley,I have a German Shepherd of 7 month old (65 pound) that has a Babesia infection, I'm feeding with commercial food (Eukanuba), I want to change to a Natural Diet. I asked my Veterinarian but I'm not glad with his answer. Please, can you give me your opinion.
Many thanks for your reply.

I’m sorry to hear about your dog’s illness. I hope your vet also tested your pup for erlichia as many dogs that have babesia also are infected in erlichia. Here is a page I found that explains a little bit about this. http://www.2ndchance.info/babesia.htm
Many vets have very little education about dog nutrition, and will always recommend dry dog food. We absolutely disagree with this!
Read this article on feeding a raw diet. It’s a work in progress but there is a lot of good information there.
I would also recommend these books, Natural Nutrition for Dogs & Cats and Raw Dog Food.
You can also go to our Feeding Dogs Page for a list of articles and books that will be helpful to you.
I hope this helps.
