My 5-pound Yorkie has three bowel movements a day ever since her start on Embark. She had less on kibble. Is this normal?
Full Question:
Hello,First I would like to say your site has helped me so much. Also your DVDs are great. I have my little 5 pound yorkie on Embark. She seems to be itching a bit less than she was on kibble. This and her general health was my reason for changing her diet. I feed her embark alone, no supplements. My main question is that she is having three BM's a day, She had less than that on kibble. I thought it would be less than on kibble. Is this normal or is this not the right Honest Kitchen diet for her. She is not a highly active dog. She is a hyper dog, but not highly active like a working dog. She gets a walk everyday and is an inside dog.
I did see the bit about letting it rehydrate longer, I will try that. You say you let yours soak overnight or all day. Do you put it in the fridge or leave it out to rehydrate? If I put it in the fridge to soak should I just give it to her cold or can I microwave it without harming the nutrients.
Thanks,
Heather
Cindy's Answer:
I probably wouldn’t microwave the food. I leave mine out overnight, but if you are concerned about food safety you could refrigerate it and then add a bit of hot water in the morning to warm it up.
I might also recommend a digestive enzyme and probiotic. This will help her get more nutrients out of the food and will aid with digestion.
I hope this helps.
