Sometimes Michael Ellis uses FREE as a release word and other times YES. What is the difference?

Hello Cindy,

I have been watching (and enjoying) several of the Michael Ellis training videos. Sometimes he uses FREE as a release word and other times YES. Can you please tell me what the difference is and why he uses both words? Thank you.

Cindy's Answer:

I believe the footage you have seen where he uses FREE is only because he is working with someone else’s dog and that is their release word. Michael uses YES for his own dogs.
