My 10 month old puppy is on a raw diet and kibble but he has a lot of gas and seems constipated. Do you have any ideas?

I have a 10 month old Greyhound puppy who is on a raw diet much to the chagrin of my vet. I have two questions, he has a very hard time having a bowel movement and is very gassy. He gate chicken backs, veggies and some fruit, I also give him flak seed oil as his skin is quite dry.I have been giving him about 2 cups of kibble and has helped with the constipation but I am wondering if that is why he is so gassy.

Chicken backs are mostly bone, not much meat and can cause constipation. I would probably modify your pup's diet to include other protein sources and more boneless meat. Too much bone in the diet causes constipation and very dry stools.
Veggies and fruit aren't really necessary and some dogs produce a lot of gas when they eat them. I give VERY few veggies or fruit to my own dogs and usually make sure they are cooked first or pulverized through my juicer.
I would probably eliminate the kibble altogether, it may also be a factor. If you want to add something to his meals that will help with constipation use canned 100% pure pumpkin (NOT pie filling).
Instead of flax, I'd use salmon oil. Dogs do much better on animal based products as opposed to plant based. Make sure to give vitamin E daily as well.
The best books for learning about the raw diet are Raw Dog Food and Natural Nutrition for Dogs & Cats. We give both these books to our puppy customers and rarely have questions about the diet. One of the newer feeding books we offer is Raw & Natural Nutrition for Dogs. This title covers homemade cooked & raw diets complete with recipes. I highly recommend all these books.
