Will my 5 month old Rottweiler pup jumping in and out of the car affect his bone development?
Full Question:
Hi Cindy.I purchased your video: Your puppy 8 weeks to 12 months. In module 4 segment 3 Ed talks about taking puppy to different locations and doing engagement exercises for one minute and then take it to another place and do some more engagement practices and so forth.
My questions is: do I need to be concerned with my 5 month old Rottweiler puppy jumping in and out of the car due to its growth plates? Will this affect his bone development?
Thank you for your reply. I so respect what you and Ed are doing.

For my large breed dogs, I use a ramp or step to load and unload from the vehicle. I have a tall SUV and I take my dogs places every day so I try to minimize wear and tear on the joints, not just when they are puppies but for the life of the dog.
Too much repetitive impact can create issues with growth plates and joints. If it's not a big step in and out it's not as traumatic to the skeletal system as a tall SUV or truck.

User Response:
I have a sedan and tried a ramp. They are too big because the back doors do not open wide enough. Same problem with steps. I don't think there is a solution for me and my Rottweiler. Thank you for your reply.
