I think that American GSDs are better than German lines. The German lines are just nippy and cowardly.

Full Question:
I used to have an pure American GSD named Baxter. He has great balance and agility, and he is extremely powerful. I live in Canada and often see elk in my yard. One day he ran away after something and I chased him with my fourwheeler and watched him bring down a 565 pound elk. I had to get rid of him because of this. He had excellent drive and often hunted with me. Never say that German lines are better, I currently own one and will soon get rid of him because he is timid, and is very nippy. Recently a friend of mine walked in to my house and my dog whined and then bolted. Baxter, actually went through my window after a passing car. German lines are not fierce, they are just nippy and cowardly.

You don’t have enough experience to make these kinds of statements.

To begin with you got rid of a good dog because you did not or could not train it. You could not even train it to COME to you under distraction. So that pretty much says everything about your training abilities.

Your lack of understand of genetics is apparent in your comments on German lines.

It's nice to pontificate - but you really need to be careful because it is a reflection on intelligence or the lack there of.

I have this saying:

You need to be careful about who you listen to on training your dog. “Everyone has an opinion on how to train your dog – just ask your mailman, your neighbor, your hair dresser, or I could point you to more web sites than I can count – the problem is that very few people have the experience to back up their opinions which results in a lot of bad information being handed out”.

You fall into this category.
