Here's what happened last night, the post makes me look bad, but might help somebody down the road not to make the same kind of mistake. We have the pull down attic stairs and my wife and i were getting the christmas decorations down(the stairs are almost straight up and down) my 8mo.old was barking while we were in the attic, the next thing i know, i see his face for a second, then no face, then a loud thump. He's fine, but he could've been hurt or broke his neck or something, just because i didn't pay attention for a couple of minutes, they must be supervised 100% of the time, it could happen to anyone, i consider myself a conciensious owner, AL

Al, you are a good dog owner, Lord know we've talked dozens of hours privately about rasing your young fireball.
But you do have an incredibly high drive puppy ( that sounds so much better that "psycho", doesn't it? ) and you and all the high drive GSD and Mal puppy owners have just that more extra of a job watching your growing maniac.
Good luck to you all!
( and the loooong and hard puppyhood will be worth it eventually, I promise! )
Maybe get him a helmet? Elvis, the "special Ed puppy"....

you're waiting until the 18th to get christmas decorations down???? if you'd started in november (or even october) your poor pup may've been used to it by now,.....

Did I miss something? I think the point was the steep steps and the pup climbing them while the owner's back was turned for a minute, rather than some issue with decorations.........

No no no! This forum is filled with very funny (but knowledgeable) people! I saw your little horror-face icon and thought you were being serious........ *I* am sorry.

Al,
It is quite admirable that you are admitting to a rather embarassing oversight in order to warn the rest of us. Thanks. I am glad your pup is OK.

Will, if i get him a hard hat, he'll either eat it or figure out that he could smash his way thru life even more I'll tell you what, he scared the crap outta me, but he shook it off and went and got a drink, lol, AL

thanks connie-i don't feel QUITE so stupid now. i really have to watch the icon stuff, but i'm experimenting, and i'll screw up more often than not. so please, bear with me if you can.
Al, i'm glad your pup only bumped his head, but i think it's cool that he tried to follow you up those steps, too. i bet he COULD, given enough support, and help you get the decos down next year.
the problem, as i see it, would be getting back down (cause i'd bet he could get up). those kind of stairs, he'd have to just jump straight down....hmmmm...a parachute of some sort??....
sorry-i can't help it
