Need some help with a male rottweiler. He is six months old; I tried to introduce the collar this past weekend. I let him settle down before testing to find his training level.
I have the Tri-Tronics sport 80M. I set it on ½ and hit the lowest 3 times. I went up throw the levels too setting 3. At this point I stopped. I never saw any kind of reaction from him. I thought the collar was not working or was not on. So I put the tone on and hit the nip and it sounded off. My pup was looking around to find where the tone was coming from.
So I took the collar off and changed the points. With the long points on, I retested with the same out come.
Can anyone tell me what to do. I would think he would feel it at this level and show some sign. Or should I go till he does respond?
Thanks in advance for any help on this.
Silence is the only successful subsitute for brains.
I would test it on myself to make sure there is a stim and not just a tone. Ed demonstates how to do this in his new e-collar video <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Make sure the collar is tight enough.
I'm not familiar with the levels to know how high three is but I had the same problem with my dog and increased the levels until I saw a reaction and once he got used to the collar I was able to lower the stim level. You are looking for a very slight reaction, twitch of the ear, eye movement etc.
Hopefully someone more familiar with tritronics can be more helpful.
