We just had our 6 month old Sheltie neutered and his dew claws removed I was wondering if there was any special care we need to do with his stiches where they removed his dewclaws? The vet said not to let him lick or chew on them but was wondering if there was anything else we needed to do or to watch for. Any advice would be great since this is the first dog we have ever had to have his dewclaws removed. Thanks
Nothing special needs to be done to them. Just as the vet said don't let him/ her lick them. Also if the grass is wet when he comes in maybe dry the area with a paper towel. They will heal fairly quickly so not to worry. Wendi
He said we should come back in 7 to 10 days but the way he talked it was only to take out the stiches from the neutering. He said if the stiches were still there from the dewclaws he would take them out too, that was part of the reason i was wondering if there was anything i should be looking for or doing. I want to thank you for all your help <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
