Thanks everyone- he's been such a good pup. I was pretty nervous getting my first working pup, and I've been following a lot of the good advice given here and trying to do things somewhat right and he's doing really well. Its been a long time and I don't remember a puppy being so demanding! He has some odd little quirks like hiding things everywhere, but it is kind of cute. The last was a bone. I have a bunch of potted plants and he used to be able to crawl between them and hide things in there, but he doesn't fit anymore. I have one big pot on the end that is just full of soil and he dug a little hole in the corner of it, placed his bone in it, readjusted it a couple times, and carefully covered it up with his nose. He stepped back, looked it over, glanced back at me and pranced off. He hides his toys, treats, my gloves and slippers, and the best one is icecubes. I wonder if he thinks I move them, or that he forgot where he put them. Goofy pup....
We start OB classes in a week, hope we are ready.

That digging in the pots in the house will only be cute for a short while though before it'll start getting very un-cute ( if by this posting it hasn't already gotten old )
An easy cure is laying some river rocks over the top of the dirt.

first--what's the breeding on your baby? and second--laying rock on top of soil kept my cat from digging in pots, and might keep your pup for a minute. but if you really want to extinguish the behavior, try mousetraps covered with either paper towels or kitchen towels--he'll quit, and never associate you with the "consequence"--only his own nosy behavior.

I've thought about the mousetrap idea, not sure if it was a fluke of an idea for him or not. He hasn't bothered anything since. Back to hiding things under the desk, and shelving. For the breeding it was Ako/Ivy, here is the male:

I was looking for a lot of different things, and for some reason was really drawn to Ako-he sounded so much like the male I have, and after all the looking kept going back to him. I work really long 14 hour days(not quite everyday), with the public, but have my dog with me. I wanted a dog for protection first, but he still had to be somewhat social where he wouldn't have to be confined for coming unglued everytime a customer would come in. Didn't want him jumping out of his skin with too much energy, because he'd be spending most of his life indoors. I wanted good drive to pursue some different dog sports-agility and OB for sure, maybe tracking...and been thinking about checking with the local SAR team, I got some names and phone numbers, I don't know yet, I don't think I can do it all. I'm hoping not to have to work quite so many hours in the future where we can do a little more. We are a bit more limited for activities here. He's sleeping under my desk now, we walk in the morning and at night, have several short play sessions and training sessions during the day, and he plays just super by himself with his toys, and he's very good with his alone time. I realize he is really young yet, but so far he is exactly what I was looking for...time will tell, and hopefully he'll stay healthy.
