First let me thank Ed for creating such a wonderful product- Everlasting Treat Ball- Matrix got upset stomach first on it( he has a sensitive stomach though) but quickly he adapted to it and now he just loves the challenge of getting the treat out of the ball. Few free hours for me but sometimes he is able to take out the treat in less than 1/2 hour!!
I have two questions-
1. Matrix just found a perfect playmate- a six months, not spayed, old gsd pup.
A). How can I notice the signs of play turned into aggression? As today it seemed that there was aggression in their play and I had to stop it. But the other guy kept telling me to not to interfere as it was just a "play"
B). Is it a good idea to train the two dogs for tracking side by side as both are excellent in it?
2. Several people have approached me and Matrix and gasped at this looks. So, I want to take a chance and try his luck in advertisements/ calendar photo shoots. Any place/ agency you guys can recommend? But I personally think all the gsd are handsome……
Search online to find an agent (Yep, dog agents!)that is in your area. I've submitted portfolios on my very distinctive looking dog, but apparently she looks too much like a certain Jack Russell Terrier that is stealing the show.
A better chance is to submit photos to magazines. The annual Writer's Guide has each magazines policies, pay and contact information.
Either is fun, but there are a lot of people thinking the same thing so it is hard to get noticed.
Play turns serious very fast so just watch the dogs carefully. It will usually get vocal before a fight breaks out but not always so watch them.
What borough are you located in? There was a place in Great Neck called NY Model and Talent and I know they used to scout animals for print and tv. I think they changed to Mirror Model and Talent. Anne's search tips were good and I would only add to look for 'talent' on the end of the agencies name because they are most likely to look for pets. Modeling agencies are a dime a dozen in the city and so are scammers. Be careful of the ones that want to sell you expensive portfolios but don't have a large client base. Ask to see their portfolio, ie places they've placed their models and talent. A good agency should have found work for their models in parts, or magazines you've heard of.
There are tons of good looking dogs. You'd be ahead or even if you trained your dog to do some tricks, flashy obedience and even got the minimum of a CGC. Good luck
