I just got a goldendoodle 10 days ago, at first he was so timid and stayed right by me so I let him play in the house, go outside with freedom in our fenced back yard and then he started peeing on the floor we told him no and took him out then he started hiding under tables so we found this web site and started putting him on a leash everywhere. Im scared that Im doing everything wrong. He is only 17 weeks old but he fights me on the leash he bites on my hand when I brush him and the brush. Sometimes he goes a little wild to I want to have a gentle dog we can love and hug help me so I dont screw this up.
I guess I'm just nuts but what is a goldendoodle?Don't tell me its a Golden/Poodle cross! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
This pup needs rules, boundries and limitations. A good puppy correction is "Scruffing". Grab the pup by the scruff (skin on the back of the neck) as if his mother is biting him and say "NO", then praise when he/she stops the behavior.
Hi April
The first thing you should do is go to the Leerberg website and order the puppy video. 8 weeks to 8 months. Then while your waiting for it read all the articles on puppy raising and dog training. On this board you can use the search functions and read the threads on housebreaking, puppies etc.
Raiseing a nice pup isn't rocket science but you need to get some knowledge. Then you can enjoy the training and have a nice pet.
This board is primarily for working dogs so not everything will be useful to you. But personally I think the advice here is better than other places because of the articles and videos available and the ability to ask followup questions.
I think this will give you what you need to get going. There aren't alot of Goldendoodle experts here on this board.
