How much would a GSD puppy weigh at 1 year of age. I am wondering because I was thinking of getting an apartment and most of them say pets 25 pounds and lower.
GSD's will weigh more than 25lbs when they are 3 months old. Will you have a place for daily exercise? Will you be home or will the pup be left alone all the time? Take some time and really look at what you want in a pup before you buy a baby and then find out its not for you.
Just a hint, as a landlord, I make it a point to interview prospective tenants AND their dog(s).
Call it discrimination, call it what you will, but I believe this discretion/judgement of the dogs/owners has been very beneficial to the "preservation" of my rental house and property.
I'm just thinking if you apply and interview for this apartment, be aware the landlord might be dog savvy and know this puppy is gonna be a big 'un sooner than later. Save yourself the headache and find an appropriate living situation for you and the dog.
If you're going to get an apartment, I hope you're not going to get a GSD from working lines ! When they're young, "working" really means "destroying ." You could come home and find that he left and went to the neighbor's...via drywall .
Not kidding-mine decided he'd been in the bathroom long enough (14x8-not a tiny room) and just removed all the drywall and left the room. He was even smart enough to do it on the 24" or so that would actually let him OUT, not just into the closet...
Something to be aware of when deciding lineage and living arrangements.

Matthew, If I were you, I'd stay with the folks until your new house is finished. The pup will be o.k. in the run, just be sure to spend lots of time with him/her. Plus, take the $$ you save (from renting while your house is finished) & buy some of Ed's videos

if theres a will theres a way. my "pup" was 80 lbs in my little apt. your gonna need a crate. and be willing to let it run off alot of built up energy. its more of a hassle but it could be done
