I searched the archives and read the posts about this grooming tool... I used it on our hairball Corgi, and I have to say it worked well. I was a groomer for 15 years and can't believe I never thought of using a clipper blade to get the undercoat out.
Anyway, I find it hard to believe that if you use it a lot, it doesn't pull out ALL the undercoat. Does it? Any experience you all have with this would be appreciated.
we were sent a sample to use on our dogs, to see if we were interested in selling them.
Hi Cindy,
I had a client's two dogs in for 3 weeks of boarding in Dec/Jan who were 'Furminated" by a groomer and while I was initially skeptical of the claims - I have to say I was astonished at how little hair there was to shop vac out of their indoor kennels in the 3 weeks they were w/me. It sure made a believer out of me.
What I'd like to know is it as simple as brush the dog w/it or is there a process involved in order to get max results out of this?
It sure is an interesting concept and based on what little I have seen does work and could make a whole lot of people lives easier and their homes/cars/clothes cleaner.

Hi Nick
If you can brush a dog, you can use this thing. It's just a wide clipper blade without the moving cutting surface (those of you who have ever used clippers with changeable blades will understand). It's installed in a handle much like an undercoat rake. They sell a special Furminator shampoo and conditioner but I didn't use those on the Corgi before I groomed her. She is HANDS DOWN the biggest shedding problem I have encountered. We have 5 dogs in the house, 1 GSD, 2 Malinois and 2 Corgis and Morgan sheds more than the other 4 combined. I was impressed by how easy and fast it was, but still can't help but wonder if it strips out more coat than it should??
I use these for selectively thinning out my ACDs that I show in the breed ring and was just curious if this worked more (or less) effectively Thanks!
Taknig out more coat than necessary has always been a worry with my outside GSD. I still deep brush 3-4 times a week, but no raking and combing in the winter. He's starting to blow coat now, so the big guns will be comming out now. Then it's everyday grooming. That STILL doesn't keep up with his constant shedding.
Ingrid, I think I have one of those in the garden shed. It's a between row cultivator. I'll have to give it a try on Thunder.

That explains the occasional corn row that sprouts up on my dogs' rears
