I have been on the board for a while and just love all the discussions. I decided to shoot a little video this weekend and try my hand at some simple editing.
This is Ozzy vom Ausland. He is training as a duel purpose PSD as well as Schutzhund. If this works I'm the guy in the Green jacket. The clip should play as soon as you click on it.

This clip worked great. I really like getting to watch training clips like this. Thanks.
"just curious why you would mess with SchH if he's going to be a PSD... "
I believe the two "can" compliment each other nicely. Schutzhund in my opinion and what experience I have to drawl from can help build a solid foundation. Not to mean every schutzhund dog can do the work because that is in NO way the case. I also look at schutzhud as an opportunity to get out and work with my dog. Anytime I have an opportunity to work Tracking obedience and bite work why not (Provided it's with a good decoy and or there is something I can accomplish from it). Not to mention it's fun. There does have to be a balance though and I would never want to cross that line. The dog needs to be real. I train 3 days a week every week with very few exceptions. 1 day for Schutzhund and 2 for the police work. SO far I have never noticed the slightest of problems or conflicts (that I didn't cause). The dog is ready to bring it with or without equipment.
This may not be the case for every PSD and there is nothing wrong with that but as long as he is able why not.
Jason
Some days you're the dog, and some days you're the hydrant.
i suppose if the dog is starting out on both i don't see any issues. i just know from my current dog who is an IPO I, that there have been issues with his search pattern. it has been a battle to get him to go out farther. he seems to revert back to his blind searches. you can almost see him clearing the invisible blinds as he is searching. i love that he had a nice foundation of OB and tracking, but the rest i could've done without...
