I just started doing Google searches for (Disney + "White Fang"). The animal that played White Fang is called "Jed." From what I have found he is said to be a wolf hybrid but who knows for sure? It could just be publicity since Disney seems to have a thing for anthropomorphizing wild animals. I wouldn't put it past 'em to find a wolfy looking dog and call it a hybrid.
I got out the old movie and watched a while. I think its a wolf/malamute cross, too. There was a guy that lived in our town a few years ago that had a 80% wolf/20% malamute. He finally donated it to the zoo <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
If you scroll down through all the end credits after the film's over, it seems like I remember seeing, "the hybrid pack owned & handled by so & so", or something to that effect (?)
I looked at the wrong movie <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> I was watching "White Fang and the Hunter" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> Like Barbara mentioned, White Fang is a Wolf/Malamute cross(I think <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
Yes, Jed portrayed White Fang and was a Malamute/wolf cross. He was owned and trained by Clint Rowe. Jed also appeared in The Journey of Natty Gann (1985) a really nice family film.
Can anybody find more information about Jed? I searched on google, but could not find anything else. How could he be trained so well if hybrids cannot be trained and are unpredictable? Does anybody know what breeder he came from? I found a website that claims to have White Fang movie star blood, but the dogs do not look similar.
