hi all i have a pup almost six mounths old and only one testicle has dropped.growing up i had dogs and none of them were nuetrered now that i have bought my own dog i didnt want to nueter him.what i was wondering was if there was any way to keep the one and remove the one that hasnt dropped.if anyone has heard if this is possible.plus if i have to neuter when to nueter i have heard to wait until a dog is 2 years old to get nuetered so they dont stay a puppy any advice u guys could give me would be great thanks
Dear Chris,
I know that you would not breed this dog, because it can be passed on in a litter. He would have a far less chance of getting testicular cancer if he were neutered. He will also be more likely to want to stay homeand be a nice pet. Contrary to what some people think...........The brain is not connected to that part of his anatomy And he will not even miss his missing parts
I strongly urge you to get this dog neutered. The undistended testicle will require more intensive surgery to remove, but if it is not removed, as stated the dog can get cancer. All dogs that are not breeding stock, should be neutered. If you want to work this dog then hold off neutering until 18 to 24 months. If you don't work the dog, neuter at 6 months at the earliest. I have not found a dog neutered at under a year to remain a puppy longer than usual.
thanks for the info guys. i contacted my breeder and he said he never had this happen to one of his pups before.but i will go ahead and nueter.thanks guys
