I take my 15 mos. old GSD "Coach" to PPD training once a week. Training starts at 9:00 am and I have to leave my house by 8:15 am. I have not been feeding him before we go so that he does not get sick or have intestinal problems, but this past week he seemed to run out of gas. He winded during the second session and I thought that it may have been because he had not eaten. He is still having issues with his stomach. I am still searching for the right dog food for him. His stool is loose and very light in color. He is also not gaining weight. He is extremely skinny. I feel bad making him wait until we get home at about 1:00 pm before he gets to eat. Can I feed him before we goe to training or am I doing the right thing by making him wait?

I would call the vet and discuss the light-colored loose stool. JMO, because there are a couple of ailments that present this way, along with the fatigue. The vet might want a stool sample and blood work.
Others here have vet-tech experience, so I'll bet you get more advice.
Your dog has a heart murmur, right? Maybe that is contributing to the running out of steam?
JMO: The stools and the fatigue trump the timing of the feeding.....but again, others will have ideas about the feeding and exercise question. (I have read and I personally follow a 4-hours-before-heavy-exercise rule.)
