I just bot a GSD from this kennel in Wash. state. I was told the dog would be ok around cats; the dog killed my cat. Has anhyone else had a bad experience with this kennel? I'm interested in hearing.

I am not in the least familiar with this kennel, but I doubt very much that your "contract" for your dog provided a guarantee clause against killing cats. I fear this may have been the fault of the owner/handler.
As you think, so shall you be. |

Diana, I'm so sorry about your cat. Your dog probably was fine with the cats at the breeders. Usually, even a dog who is good with his own cats, needs to be introduced very carefully to new cats (& vice versa) Especially if the dog was in the stressful situation of being in a new home with new people. I too, have never heard of a guarantee against cat killing. I am wondering if you are sure you introduced these animals correctly? you didn't leave them alone together did you?

This doesn't even deserve comment, small quick prey item, large GSD w/ prey drive, new environment, this isn't the dog or the sellers problem, just ignorance at work here, blame yourself. There is no suprise here.

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience but this hardly sounds like you can fault the kennel.
In fact I'm sure you got yourself a great dog thanks to the careful breeding of said kennel.
Look at it on the bright side...now you can focus all your attention on your new dog without having to deal with the cat issue.
If you had more then one cat, Id be careful in the future.

geez o pete, i just left the pedigree data base web page and you've got a big smear campaign going against wayne there as well. how many other boards did you post on? this is ridiculous. ofcourse you feel badly that you lost your cat, but nobody can make that sort of guarantee and i find it unbelievable that you would expect it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I'm sorry for the loss of your cat. I think the breeder should give you a refund and take the dog back. I know I wouldn't want you to have a dog I bred.

WOW--
If the OP's words are true, the lack of sympathy on this board is pretty remarkable. While it's clear that many of the respondee's know dog traits and german shepherds well, it is clear that the original poster does not. That's why she asked! She was told one thing by this reputable breeder (and btw they have the very best looking gsd's I've ever seen photos of) and received a dog that rendered the opposite. Predictably to some of you, but you likely know dogs better than the general public.
Yes, she could have known better, but why have none of the respondees claimed that so should the breeder?
I wouldnt mind hearing from other kraftwerk K9 buyers as to their experiences...

I coulda sworn I replied to this topic... where'd my post go???
I guess I'll have to re-post:
"Kraftwerk K9 is very reputable from everything I've heard and sells good training equipment. I wouldn't go bad mouthing a breeder because you didn't read the situation properly and obviously didn't use a crate or a leash appropriately. I also noticed you hijacked another thread with your comments against Kraftwerk. You also spelled "bought", "bot"."
And to add to that, it looks like this person has no intention of seeking advice, she's just going around all the message boards getting vengence. I was in the online-retail business for a while, n there's nothing more annoying than people coming to you with rude attitudes claiming things that they didn't understand properly, then go onto all the message boards and slam your services. In the cases I've dealt with, people always laughed at the guy complaining because they are usually the ones causing the miscommunications and misunderstandings. IMO you should take it up with Kraftwerk instead of slamming them on every working dog forum.

It seems the consensus is that the OP's claim is so ridiculous that no one believes the possibility of it happening, which may be the case.
I still feel bad for the cat, I guess...
