Hey all!!! I just wanted to share that I attended my first ever Bernhard Flinks seminar and it was awesome!!!!
I learned more in the past few days than I have in the past few years. For me, I was impressed with the theory and psychology ( both dog and human) behind all of Bernhard's watchful instruction. I found it very helpful to understand the why of things in addition to the how.....
Naturally, I was also thrilled to hear that Bernhard liked my dog!
I also met some wonderful people! Will and Pat, it was great to finally put faces to the names
Also, a big thank you to Francesco Caratenuto of K9 Nation, who hosted the trial. He has a beautiful facility, great dogs, and fed us like royalty!
I can't wait for the next seminar!
( ps- I learned that this outdoor sport also requires rain gear!!So I'm shopping...any suggestions on good clothing resources for Sch sports??)

Gosh I'm jealous. I wish I could have gone. Sounds like you had a great time. I'm convinced going to seminars (although not always with dog) is very important. As far as clothes go, for me, the most important thing is footwear including a good pair of boots for tracking & soccer shoes (because of the cleats) during protection. As far as rain clothes, any sports store will be able to provide what you want. Layering is key!

Thanks, I went to an outdoors place near to me...but I was really unsure as to what would be good (as in... more appropriate). And then too, I was drawn to the bright colored stuff, and I wasn't sure it would be a good idea to buy color...would it be better to stick to black or more earthy tones?
but I thought...hmmmm, maybe too much???? What do you think? I don't see why you can't be stylish AND dry...but, I also don't want to be laughed off the field!! LOLOL!

If you enjoy being harassed, those are a great choice. Definately a way to get people talking.
Our treasurer has a nice purple pair of boots for tracking.
L.L. Bean sells great rain gear. There are a lot of breathable water repellent/waterproof (depending on how much you want to spend) fabrics out there. You should come back to Maine and hit the Outlet in Ellsworth. That is where all my stuff comes from
Try any outdoor sporting goods place. Cabela's is a good place to start. Motorcycle rainsuits can be useful too.
Cabela's is a great place for outdoor gear. I'd also recommend sierratradingpost.com as a place that has a lot of good outdoor wear at discount prices. Just don't count on everything you want being there at any particular time. I'm cheap so I can wait to find what I want!
I really like waxed cotton jackets for working in the rain. I think they seal the wind and cold out better than most artificial fabrics, and if you get them at a bigger size you can layer them with just about anything depending on how cold it is. Also, most of those sorts of jackets are made for hunters so they have lots of pockets for gear and treats. The downside is weight, so it might not be something you want on a long distance, high altitude hike.
Wish I'd been able to make the Flinks seminar.. I'm jealous!
