Anything you can recommend that she can chew on? She doesn't like the Kong...
I don't like to give hide, either.
"Beef straps" are baked steer neck tendons and back muscle. Mike Schoonbrood told me about them, and I got some online. I forget the name of the place, but lots of sites have them.
Just wanted to toss something in: don't give Greenies. I don't have the links handy but there are articles about them and photos about how they expand into an intestinal-clogging nightmare bolus. I believe many dogs died from them.
I suppose most greenie people don't have problems but this just seems to be a particularly risky chew toy. Wouldn't a raw bone be best in this situation?
i've always found that the best chewing items (and your pup will soon be teething, therefore wanting to chew on ANYTHING), are beef shank/knuckle bones. for any age: the pups get a lot of chewing out of them, older dogs love them, and all without worries about impaction--even the big dogs can only get (maybe) a few bone chips off the edges.
these are RAW bones, not cooked, smoked or any of that other stuff, which my dogs just eat (i've experimented a bit). i've helped clean out enough impacted dogs that were fed cooked ham-bones (thanksgiving) that i never want anyone to have to do THAT particular procedure to one of MY dogs.
bottom line: i don't waste my hard-earned $$ on junk sold at pet/feed stores. i go to a local butcher shop, pay $1.30/lb. for shank bones that last as long as i want them to. cheaper in the long run (compare lb:lb $$), better for my dogs. just my own personal experience
oh--one last thought: frozen raw chicken wings were really good for my guy when he was teething, as were, to a limited extent, frozen raw carrots, and ice cubes. he learned that whenever i open the freezer, if he sits, he gets an ice cube. if i forget to get one out, i don't forget for long--get the intense "fuss" stare (yay!!!!) until i get him one

My 4 month old GSD loves the Bully Sticks - they are a little expensive though. (Is it true that bully sticks are bull peckers freeze dried?) BLECH...
I also give him uncooked carrots and plenty of ice cubes. He is teething really bad right now. I can see the points of the teeth busting though in the back of his gums.
Nylabone has a product that I like. It is a water fillable teething bone. Fill it with water, freeze it and it keeps him occupied for a while.
