hi well my pup had a set back again im not sure what but hes not showing the commitment like he used to. when he used to bite the tug he used to strike like berhnard says in his video BAM! and when i shake i shake hard my boy is 7 months in a week he weighs 60 IBS and hes a very strong dog. hes an APBT, im just wondering how are you supposed to raise a working pup. im home most of the time only leaving a couple times a day and not for long and hes always inside with my 2 year old lab. Ive been told its best to keep them seperated and keep him outside and use the time im with him to train, but on average its -25 celcius i live in canada and it gets pretty cold i think the coldest we have had this winter is -36 celcius plus the wind chill, id never leave my dog outside in that kind of weather but what about when its like -25 or so would the heating pad that leerburg sells keep him warm and is this the route i should go for raising a working puppy. i know this dog can be a good PP dog, i dont want to do shutzhund with him i just want a dog that will protect home and family. i just want him to like to work not feel forced to it seems like him being in the house all the time he just would rather lay around. if anyone can give me a run down of how yoyu raise your dogs and a schedule of when and how you would train a dog of this age. thank you i appreciate any suggestions you guys give.
I won't comment on raising a working pup, as I'm having my own problems with that. But look at your dogs fur. Pits are not made to live outside. Crate him, or leave him in a seperate room if you are worried about him bonding with the other dog too much. I live in Canada too, and I wouldn't dream of leaving a pit out in the winter.
