what type of person does it take to own and handle one ? Can I? I am thinking of getting one. looking at a puppy from Ot Vitosha. What about them. I want one!!! I have a lower drive GSD with hip displasia right now and love the breed. I want something a little more. Tell me your opinions please
My goal is to have the dog of my lifetime. I have trained dogs for twenty years, my own. everyone that sees my dogs can't believe what a trained dog can do. never titled a dog but the club I go to titles many if you are willing to work. My Boxer Butch was the best dog for us so far and he will be hard to overtake. had to put that in as he rest in pease
so nobody in your club has a mal? or has had direct experience with a mal? and you have been training dogs for 20 years to an unbelieveable level and have never worked one? i like them, but still prefer a GSD (they have more heart in my opinion, i dont know, something about a good GSD that is plain hard to beat, but to each their own!)

Mali's are quite a different beast from Boxers and GSD's, especially if you get a good one. There's a reason lots of people keep them as kennel dogs -- you need lots of patience to have them as a house dog <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> The training is also a little different for a Mali than it is for a GSD so if your trainer/decoy/whatever doesn't have experience with Mali's, or only works them the same way you train a GSD, you might run into a few problems if you're looking for a sport dog.
if you are thinking about getting one from ivan, that is probably a wise move. he KNOWS his dogs and can make the best possible choice for you. i would trust him to do the picking if i were you. he has awesome dogs and if he has nothing suitable for you, he is certainly in a position where he can find it. just be perfectly honest with him in what you have done and what you intend to do. he can fix you up. best of luck.
