I'll be getting my pup neutered here in the next couple of months and my vet offers to types of procedures, a laser cut and the regular...anybody hear anything on the laser one? My vet said the laser one heals faster and there's no stitches...is it worth the extra $50 bucks?
Thanks!
In short...yes. I am a pre-vet student (a year away from vet school) and have had the pleasure of seeing a couple laser surgeries. It's definately worth the extra money. The laser works by vaporizing the water in the tissues, and thus making cuts that way.
A neuter is a very simple and straight forward procedure, and often times even with a scalpal, there are no stiches (the scrotum will actually heal back together once the testicles are removed by shear friction). But the laser reduces bleeding and pain also.
In all honesty, a neuter is so simple that either way would be fine, but the laser is the new trend and does offer benefits.
