I was wondering if anyone's dog is sensitive to paranormal activity such as ghosts, spirits etc. My dog, a female dutch shepherd, has alerted me a few times me when something was amiss. One time she alerted me by aggressively barking (hackles raising) inside my home at a wall (she normally does not bark in the house), and by "yelping" out in pain as if she had been struck by something. After I checked on my dog she seemed to be temporarily immobile (she was awake but rigid). My dog has no known medical problems. At one time I may not have perceived this as being paranormal however, I have had alot of strange stuff happening in my home that cannot be explained.

Will ,I think you should have another pack of beer and stop sharing the pack with your dog.

Maybe you have critters in the wall.
One of my dogs used to bark at the wall, but he was old (15) and you could tell his mind was slipping.

Will, I'm not sure if I believe in ghosts or not but if they do exist, I would think an animal would be the first to know of their presence.
Having said that, the other possibility lies maybe in where you live. Now is the time of year that animals begin to look for warm places to get through the winter. Our homes are ideal for mice and such. I'd set food traps that cause the animal to desperately search for water outside the home and w/any luck, they die out there instead of inside your house.

Will to answer your question, I believe animals do sense
paranormal activity, they have much better "sense" or sensitivity for a better word of changes in the enviroment look what happened during the Tsunami
the animals "sensed" it coming and moved to higher ground
in enough time to avoid the worst of it.I do believe that things are very active of a sprititual form, and yes I do believe that animals keep them away and are very aware of them, to ignore the unexplained/supernatural happenings during these turbulent times we are living in is folly, MHO of course, Now I suppose I will have to prove my sobriety to a few on here Just so you don't think I am out of my tree, has anyone else noticed how all the dogs seem to bark at exactly 3am in the morning?????every morning in our road and believe me there is never a thing to be seen.

And how exactly does that prove you're NOT out of your tree girl ?

My dog is a genius at sniffing out ghosts. And for $5,000, plus expenses, I'll be happy to have him come by anyone's house to chase off the evil spirits. Payment in advance, please.

we've had A LOT of wierd stuff happen but has all been along the lines of a deceased pet making his/her presence known - never anything scary and always caused by one of our pets. both my hubby and i have experienced this as well as current pets.......so its not just me.
if there are no dogs in heaven, then when i die i want to go where they went. ---will rogers |

Your dog was rigid as in she couldn't move at all? Did you have your dog checked by a vet after this episode or did you just chalk it up to your pet's uncanny ability to detect ghosts?

Before calling in the Ghostbusters I think it might be a good idea to take your dog to the vet. I know you said there are no "known" medical problems but what happened to your dog sounds like it could have been a seizure of some kind. Even if your dog hasn't had them before, it really should be looked into, IMO.
If I had ghosts I would feel a lot better having a dog with me! I don't have ghosts, though, I have mice!
