What's so bad about using live farm animals in a nativity scene, anyway? The animals (sheep, donkeys, etc) are domesticated anyway, so they can stand in the scene and eat hay, or stand in their barn and eat hay. What's the difference? And how is it cruel???
Well, you have 2 strikes against you:
1. they're farm animals (therefore raised in horrible conditions)
2. they're being used for entertainment (therefore exploited & enslaved by humans)
Heaven forbid that you say that your animals are well looked after, you're still enslaving & exploiting no matter what...
Seriously? What does PETA want us to do with/for our animals?
...We could give them the vote
absolutely nothing, that's the ultimate goal of PETA. i'm not sure whether they would have us exterminate all domestic/farm animals, or whether they'd have us turn them all loose on an unsuspecting ecosystem...
but eventually they want us to not even look at animals. apparently if you look at an animal and smile, that's "unethical".
Yeah, the way they change their position on issues according to media backlashes is quite amusing. Here's some good sites to visit. I just ran across peta-sucks.com & it has info on how to help stop these extremists (mostly by contacting the appropriate federal agencies, since they're so dangerous). http://www.animalrights.net/ http://www.consumerfreedom.com/ http://www.peta-sucks.com/main.htm
OMG I hope they don't investigate my house! I treat my dog almost as well as my kids...oops not imply "ownership" and PETA has a problem with ownership. The children who live in my house who share my genes.... The dog is not required to get up and get to school on time, do his homework or clean his room. Then that must meen that my kids are also being abused too.
