I have mentioned before that we have been working on a project to stream a great deal of the raw footage I have filmed over the past 25 years.
We have been tweaking players and working with software to get the quality that we want. Here is a sample of a 2 hour video of the 1984 German Sieger Show (conformation nationals) The video has some inherent problems that have resulted from age (it's 22 years old) the occasional blue flash happens because the tape is loosing signal - the voice over track has degenerated with time.
But still I would like to know if anyone has problems playing this. There is an art to streaming video - we are learning the art :-)
The next video I will stream will be the 1986 Bundessieger - it will have our friend Claudia Romard (who placed 2nd in this years Sch championships)
If you have a problem with this stream - please send Ryan (our Leerburg IT manager) aan email ryan@leerburg.com
Hi Ed. Thank you so much for all of your work with video - and using current technology tools to bring ever more info to the internet!
I watched about 20 minutes or so of the stream and it was great - I watched through the SG-16 young female. The sound was very steady for me. (and my computer isn't the newest) The video had very minor "buffering" choppiness at times, but for my computer it was very good compared to some other streams I try to watch that are not related to dogs or Leerburg. I hope that is the type of feedback you are looking for. Let me know if there is other feedback you seek, as I plan to watch this in full!
I love your "around the town" commentary and video. It just adds to the feeling of being there.
I also look forward to watching more - as one who "cut her teeth" in the "conformation" GSD world, I want to watch more - especially the working classes to see more about how things have changed in the last 20+ years - for better, worse, etc.
Thanks for posting this. I'm about a half hour in and taking a break. Not on the topic of video, but one thing I was surprised to see was how weak and floppy a lot of dogs looked in the rear during movement. Am I the only one? Is this how they're supposed to look?
Well I am 45 minutes into it and it is running great. Don't know if it matters but I thought I would post the info for my computer to help you out. I am running Windows XP, using DSL connection. I have about 768 RAM with a 256 meg video card. Works awesome on my computer. The only complaint I would have is that I can barely hear your voice over the video. You could probably kill some of the video sound to enhance your narration. I can't speak german anyway so the video sound is pointless from my perspective. Either way it has been very interesting to watch.
Thanks for your input guys. Looks like Ryan has got this tweaked to where we need it. We have had about 170 downloads and no one has written with problems so this excellent.
I appreciated your talking through the obedience trials (the one with Fritz), and through the training at the schutzhund club. And enjoyed seeing the shepherd with his sheep. Very cool.
Great video Ed, watched the whole thing without problems.
I second what Chris said though, your voice was a little bit hard to hear over the background noise. Maybe there's a way to enhance it?
Lol, I laughed during the routine of that dog they wanted to sell you when you commented that both the man and the dog could use a diet. Poor fat dog, he looked like he really needed a hand getting over those hurdles - he was really huffing and puffing there
Wonderful commentary. You really have a talent for providing the useful information at the right time, without overloading with un-needed details. Can't wait to see the next one!
