I noticed a pimple or little bump looking thing on my dobie's forehead. It'really small and doesn't appear to hurt him. It's not a specific color other than the color of his skin. Does anyone know what this is? Is this something I should be concerned with? Thanks.
Hard to say without seeing it, but it could be a skin tag. My dog has one on his head. It doesn't really look like a pimple though, just like a little "tag" sticking out, the same colour as his skin.
I'd just keep an eye on it. You can try warm comprresses to help bring it to the surface, if it's a pimple. Of course, the best thing is to go to the vet if you're really concerned.
No not at all. It doesn't pop w/puss or anything. It just looks like a small bump the same exact color of his skin. What is a "tag"? Should i be concerned?
Well, a skin tag isn't a big deal, they usually fall off on their own eventually, I think. They don't cause any harm. But you'll want to make sure this is in fact what it is.
Do an image search on google, for "skin tag". The first couple pictures are your average skin tag.
If you're at all unsure though, you might still want to ask a vet.
I just googled "skin tag" and from what I read about them and the pics provided, this is definitely not what my dog has. What he has looks more like a lump. A small tiny lump.
How old is your dog and is he a blue or white doberman? I ask because it could be melanoma (melanomas are not always pigmented in dogs) or some other type of cancer.
Dobermans are subject to "puppy staph" infections that look like pimples -- Cleanse the area with Original Listerine and/or hydrogen peroxide (separately) 2-3 times each day until the blemish goes away...
If you post on a Dobie only website, they'll give you more detailed advice <:-)
