The call came in. DIVORCE, the husband can't take the dog, the wife can't handle the dog. My last boy died of cancer about 2 years ago and I have NOT been looking. When Don was described to me, I got a little excited. When I met him, I got real excited. All they wanted was a good and caring home. When I met him, I came with hot dogs in hand. That got past the initial meeting. I took him home. He was a little reserved at first, but after a week, he was mine. He has his BH and (I think) AD. Right after the new year we will begin working on his SCH 1. I have researched his lines, and many of the names that Ed Frawley mentions on his site are in Don's pedigree. I think I did OK bloodline wise, and KNOW I did good companion wise. His name is Don von der Zwitscherklause, call name Don.

Glad to see your "new" son Mark. I hope the new year goes well for you and your companion. Just by the looks of your dog, you have a good protector and friend. I think he will work well for you. Have a safe new year and good luck in your training.

I love it when the dog kindof "matches" the interior design/color scheme.
That one looks like a keeper. Congrats!

Yep, 5 years old. He is calm around the house. When I pick up his trainng lead or kong on a rope......Katie bar the door, he is full out. But other than that, I dont have to worry about him eating the house. My other boy did that. I can leavae this one uncrated with meat in the garbage can and come home to everything just as I left it.

My previous Shepherd was just like that, never bothered the trash ever, no matter what juicy morsel or bone was in it - I could eat on the floor and leave my plate with food on it and get up, it would be there untouched when I got back. You got a good dog
I'm happy for you, that's great.

Awhile back there was a thread wherein I stated the same thing...I can leave my dog unattended and he won't touch a thing, never chewed anything he wasn't supposed to, yada, yada.
Well I was having a Cosmopolitan Christmas party (martini party for you people who don't drink them ! ) when I hear something in the next room. Well, I think my dog decided he either wanted more attention or he didn't like the way I decorated the house for Christmas because he went into stealth mode and quietly attacked my Santa Claus that was sitting on the floor !! Lesson learned - include him when I'm serving cocktails !!!

Judy, maybe Santa didn't give him what he wanted LOL. Well, it hasn't been very long, so I am sure his bad trait(s) will come out, but so far, I am loving life with this boy. It is a blessing and a curse to get them already trained. A blessing 'cuz there are no 2 AM potty breaks etc., a curse because you don't get to see them develop and mature. Oh well, he is a great replacement for my last boy.
