This is for those of us who have puppies. Sometimes I need a reminder and thought some others may appreciate this as well. I have a 6 month old pure black GSD male pup, intense with food and toys and life, fearless, as brave and protective and guardian of his home as a pup his age can be, agile, intelligent, intuitive, and a dominant guy. I'm proud of him and his abilities and I love him. I often need to remember that he is a puppy though, not an adult. I came across this on Ed's site (thank you AGAIN Ed), printed it out and inserted a picture of my pup's face and stuck it to my refrigerator, as a reminder that a puppy is a puppy. This brings me joy to read it and apply it to my pup, it's perfect. http://www.leerburg.com/puppytalk.htm

My fiancee keeps referring to my 60 lbs. not-quite-6-month-old pup as a "teenager". I tell him he's a BABY and probably won't be trustworthy in the house until @ 18 months...if that...and we've got a few years to go before he's completely mature.
You guys are too funny
What Amber said about large breed puppies is so true. My 6 mo old is already as tall as my last adult female GSD. So I need reminders to keep my expectations geared to a puppy, and laugh at all the mishaps.
My pup has done this: #18
This also applies: #20
And I'm sure he would do this: #21
Isn't it a well known law of physics though? When a refrigerator door opens, the resident puppy's head will be in it.
No matter where my puppy is in the house, if I open the fridge, his head is always poking into it. Don't know how he does it - just one of the constants of the universe I guess

But that's what makes them so lovable!!
Having a mature and perfectly trained, reliable dog is a very satisfying achievement, but a crazy silly puppy is just priceless
