The Whole Dog Journal rated the top ten dry kibble on the market. Can someone supply me with the list in the order that they appeared. No. 1 and so on? You can send the information in a PM, my private E-mail, or just post it here.
The WDG specifically asks that readers NOT do exactly what you are asking them to. The top ten is their top ten, but is not necessarily the top ten best foods out there. The reson they print the top ten is to teach people to identify what makes a great food. There are foods that may be out there that are in fact better than the foods on the top ten list. It is an attempt to eductate. Foods that were on the list in 2003 may be replaced in 2004 without any changes in their product, simply because there is a new food they had never reviewed on their list.
For $20 a year you can get the Whole Dog Journal yourself and have access to their online version as well. They have also recently reviewed the best wet foods out there as well. That is a seperate list.
If the "list" gets posted here, I will remove it. Sorry, but it isn't much removed from copying tapes/photos and selling them in my opinion.
Good Point and one that I had not thought through well enough but I do have a question. So what you're saying if I understand you correctly is that anyone quoting an article, paragraph, or particular statistics from a published book, they too are guilty of the same thing????? They would be providing similar information for the members of this board. I have never seen a post from any member informing them that they need to buy the book if they want certain information. This board is full of posts, on various topics that include verbatem quotes on many different topics.
No, what I am refering to is the fact that they have SPECIFICALLY asked thier readers NOT to republish that information. I understand that it technically falls under fair use, but it is a matter of respect for the requests of the editor. Simple as that.
I am well aware that many books/magazines are quoted here, but most don't start their yearly issue with a request specifically NOT to republish their contents.
It is a small niche market magazine. They don't run ads, so they have to make their money from selling subscriptions. Since they don't take advertising dollars, they are less likely to feel compelled to play favorites with dog food companies. Simple idea...
How did you find out that the Whole-Dog-Journal sold their mailing list to PETA? Is this a fact that is recorded on paper? If so where can I read about this?
I subscribed to the WDJ under my dog's name, so it is easy to tell what junk mail resulted from that subscription. "Indy" has gotten mail solictitations from the HSUS, which is known to be associated with PETA. They can send me whatever they want, I'm not giving them a dime. And it costs THEM to mail me crap that goes directly into the trash.
NO NO NO!!!!
DO NOT THROW PETA MAILINGS AWAY!!
Instead, careful open them up, as they often have postage paid envelopes to mail back to them. Place all the ripped up scrap paper you can find ( your goal is to make the envelope weight as much as possible ) and ....mail it back to them. Peta pays the postage, and that's money that they can't use for spreading their lies.
Seriously, I have not had any stuff come from Peta since subscribing to WDG, so maybe that was a one time mistake on their part. I will admit that the magazine does have a heavy liberal contingent, but does have good alternative health articles. The training articles don't interest me much halties and clickers everywhere!
When PETA goes around with their Bloody KFC flyers it just reminds me it has been a while since I have visited them...
poor little defenseless chickens... yummy little defenseless chickens.... My dogs agree!
