Our GSD was recently diagnosed with this problem after she began rapidly losing weight. The vet said this is a condition that is found most commonly in German Shepherds. Has anyone else dealt with this? If so, how fast did your dog's condition start to improve after the enzymes were added to their diet. I'm embarrassed to be see with her right now because she looks so bad. Lastly have you found an economical source for the enzyme powder? $85 per month is seeming like alot, though of course it's worth it if she starts to gain weight.
My first K9 partner had this. He was started on Pancreazyme and it worked very well. I notice his stools getting solid after 4-5 days. He started gaining weight immediately but was always on the skinny side afterwards .
Good thing was it never effected his energy level or performance. He just ate awhole lot afterwards to keep the weight on .
I can't give you any help on the $$ side . It's a little expensive but it sure helps them return close to having a normal life . Good luck.
You're probably not going to find it much cheaper than $80-$85 for roughly a months supply.
I think the powder form may be more effective, but the tablets are more conveinient.
Good Luck.
