I have a 14 mo old female that seems to have a reaccuring eye problem. It looks like the tear duct gets infected and drains. Sometimes more than other. It does seem to iche too. How should I treat this.
Vanessa, you should take her to a vet..sometimes I know that can be expensive for some people. If you are unable to take her to the vet...Flush her eye out gently with water. It is important to keep her eyes clean...and don't allow a crust to build up at the corner.See how that goes..She is unable to wipe off the "sleep" from her eyes...so you have to do that for her.
There is a dog in my club that has that and the vet tried flushing with the same solution that people use who has contact lenses. It worked so, whenever it flares up he flushes it and it goes away in hours. The vet said it's from a topical allergy getting in the eye. maybe pollen or something like that, that can go into the eye and latch on until flushed out. Hope this helps some.
