My vet told me that a puppy should receive a series of shots every 3 weeks until their first birthday, and then once a year after that. Is this true? It seems a little excessive, and I've heard it can be more harmful than helpful.

OHHH GEEEZZZ, this was discussed at lenght very recenty, you might want to use the search function. Cindy worked me over with a stick for my uninformed opinion, Ed has a good article about vaccinosis. Me personaly I spread the Vacs out as far as possible and never did those "5 in 1"s or "3 in 1s".
