I like the part where she says the dog gets a handful of kibble each day to 'clean his teeth'!

Read the recipes at the bottom. Would anyone recommend peppercorns or paprika for a dog?

I don't know about spices like peppercorns or paprika, but one recipe calls for two cloves of garlic. Garlic is a relative of the onion, I believe, and onions are toxic to dogs. In small portions, perhaps it's not a big deal...but why bother?
These recipes are mostly geared for the people to spoil their pets. These are for the dog's like the one in The Dog Whisperer who's owner dyed her dog pink!

I think the $100/week was to feed 3 Goldens - but she could still shave quite a bit off of that by going RAW! And kibble never kept my dogs teeth clean...
Home cooked is better than kibble, but those recipes sure looked like they were formulated for the owner more that the dog.

That's got to be one of the stupidest articles (or is it the woman who's stupid!) I've ever read. Roasting a whole turkey and picking the meat off the carcass??? How lame.
$100 a week to feed 3 dogs??? Give me a break.

My husband and I did the math on what it cost to feed 3 adult GSDs a day. It costs us roughly $6-$8 and it includes the salmon oil, vitamins, raw veggies, verve, an egg and the required amount of meat and bone to round out their meal(of course their meals are varied with other foods for variety for about the same cost). I simply cannot believe $100.00 per week for feeding her dogs. That is totally outrageous. My husband seems to think the cost for our dogs is already too high and would rather go back but I'm being pretty hard headed about changing. I simply won't do it.
She feeds her dogs kibble to clean their teeth? What an idiot!
I really love my dogs but I will never cook a whole turkey just for them or prepare special recipes. It only takes 5 minutes to put their meals together and my dogs are quite satisfied with it, not to mention me, too .
I did like the little ditty where the vets were feeling a little frustrated the course of feeding the dogs natural food is taking. I got the feeling that they think that a majority of us are pretty stupid and haven't done our homework before switching to raw. Though there are a few ignoramouses out there, I'd like to think that most of us investigate before switching.

Keith, I wouldnt' recommend either peppercorns or paprika for dogs. Spices aren't natural foods for dogs, and peppercorns are PEPPER. Why give that purposely. Personally I have a heartburn reaction to cinnamon, which I love....can't imagine giving spices intentionally to a dog.
Kristina, thanks for doing the math; $100 IS outrageous. And I do wonder why vets seem to take a universally common ground on raw food...what's the biggie about raw food that makes some of them foam at the mouth...dang.

Thanks Sandy. I was being facetious. If I happen to give my dog leftover steak or roast, I won't even give the outside with the seasoning on it, just the plain red meat in the center. I thought adding pepper or paprika to a dog's diet was not wise, and would most likely result in a loose stool mess to clean up.

$100 a week???? Ok here's my little grain of salt. I have a large female St. Bernard and a Czech gsd. I just went to the local produce place and bought 100 lbs of raw meat for $45.75. And by raw meat I mean chicken leg quarters and gibblets (chicken necks, livers, hearts, gizzards). Can you believe it? If people knew where to look and do their homework their dogs would be healthier and their wallets fatter . Thank goodnes my vet's point of view is the same as mine. But for other vets it might be quite the disappointment, less vet bills and more health!
