I was wondering if anyone else has had this happen with their dog, or might have an idea of what's going on with my dog. A few months ago, roughly around November, I was working my 3 year old male GSD in the protection work for Schutzhund. He was working very strong, and doing very good. We had him in a sit and when he would watch me I would let him go for a bite. On the second to last time I released him from the sit for the bite, and he jumped up, and let out yelp and ran kinda funny to the sleeve and took a soft bite and than released the sleeve. the second bite was slightly better, but not much. I took him to the vet and he couldn't find anything wrong with my dog. The next week at training he still was soft, so I have kept him out for a few weeks. I had to stop going due to the cost of classes, and driving, so i don't know how his bite work is lately, but he seemed to be fine. Strong on tugging and everthing like that. Well I had boarded him at the vet for the weekend while I went out of town. I went to pick him up today, and he came out and jumped up on me and yelped and whined, and went back to the floor. I could pet him, and he would walk and trot fine, maybe a little loose in the rear end, but that could be me being worried. The vet look at him today, and saw the behavior. He was was again unsure what's going on. He was thinking that maybe since my dog had been in a kennel all weekend, and not able to run around that he might have pulled a muscle. If he is still acting off tomorrow the vet told me to bring him back in and he will look him over again. I am worried about my boy. I have been planning to go for our BH, in a month or so, and to go for his SchH titles this year. I plan on breeding him, he has all the health screening done, thyriod, OFA, eyes, and those things, and he cleared them all. He has a outstanding bloodline and a great temperament, good drives, and great nerves. But this problem is worrying me. Any thoughts as to what might be going on? Anything thoughts would be great. Thanks.
My dog had similar issues and I took her to a k-9 vet who is also a chiropractor and she did several adjustments and accupuncture and my girl is back up and running.
I would start by posting where you live and what you are looking for. Hopefully, some other board members are in your area and could direct you to one. I am in the Chicagoland area and there are quite a few around here. You could also do a google search under "holistic vets" in your area.
