Last Sunday at the park I took the kids and the two SchutzHunden to do some training and get the kids some much needed excercise. I got started with the basic and advance obedience, some cute tricks, agility and article searches, the kids were helping me and before I realized it I had a crowd of people standing around me watching and some were asking questions about my dogs/kids and training questions. One person offered to buy my dog on the spot. I'm thinking of passing my hat around much like I seen street entertainers in San Fran and New Orleans do after a performance. I found myself answering questions that I spent money and time to learn myself. I figure I'll put the kids in raggedy clothes, get a boom box playing "Mr Bojangles" and "Who Let the Dogs Out" and have a more polished act. What say you guys? Too trashy? or a good way to pay for the dogfood?
I'm not that much of a dog trainer. Training dogs is easy when you get exceptionaly good high energy dogs. I could not help you if you had a lazy or dull hound or a dog with serious behavioural problems. But your right about starting a business, I'm going to talk to a K9 trainer tuesday and see if he can use my help or at least learn a bit more
Not to mention your dogs are eye-catching lookers to begin with!
90% of the people out there do not have well trained dogs. I have just started working with one of mine and I was actually surprised how much time and effort goes into a well trained dog, and my work is simple obedience!!!
People are amazed when they see a well-trained dog because it is such a rarity. People are amazed when they see anything that is the product of hard work, patience, and perseverence (think of the carefully restored classic car, cruising down the strip.)
