Yesturday I fed both puppy and 2 yr. old Beef tongue, heart and kidney. Both had loose stools this morning. They have been getting differant types of meats for a couple weeks now. Was this just to rich with the heart and kidney? Puppy had 6 ounces of tongue 3 ounces of the heart and 3 of the kidney. same proportion to the adult.
Not wanting to start an arguement by any means. I thought i was only giving one organ meat being the kidney and the rest muscle meat. I tink I will give alittle less kidney next time and maybe only one type of muscle meat. Thanks Carol

Oh crap, your right, sorry ......I always think organ when I hear tongue and heart.
Maybe it was too rich for them all at one time. If I give my dutch just muscle meat or ground meat, he gaks it up, so I have to be sure he gets less muscle and more veggies and RMB's.
I must say I was asleep at the wheel on that one.....

You are correct - kidney is the only organ meat you listed. However, 3 ounces is too much right now. I would only give him about 1 oz. per day. Again, I agree you should just stick with one type of muscle meat at first. Do you have access to chicken gizzards and hearts? They seem to be more gentle on a dog's stomach than beef when you are just starting out.
Will your second meal be RMBs? Why not mix half muscle and half RMBs? Add the organ into either one of them.
Yes and they get them both. Just wanted to mix it up some. they have been on raw for about 5 weeks now. they also have had the beaf heart and kidney before. This was the first time for the tongue as we got some for 1.10 a pound. Thanks
My mistake - yes, they should be used to the different kinds of muscle meat by now. However, I still think 9 oz. is a lot at once for these guys, unless you are adding the RMBs with it. But then I would break it down into two meals with 4.5 oz. per meal.
I know other people here feed all muscle meat at one meal and all RMBs at the other meal, but I don't have good luck with that - poop seems to go every which way, from soft to hard, etc. JMO.

Me too.
I also have to keep heart to small portions, but that might be because we can't get it often. They aren't used to it.
